Chapter 348 Misunderstanding Caused by the Angle of View
"Who the hell are you, and why do you have Ethan's phone?!"
Ashley shot up, her voice a mix of anger and confusion as she heard a woman's voice on the other end.
"Oh, Ashley. It's Annie. I wasn't feeling well yesterday, so Ethan came over to take care of me all night," Ava's voice came through, dripping with smugness.
"Ashley, I'm so jealous of you. Having such a sweet husband like Ethan. When he was taking care of me last night, I felt so comfortable," Ava emphasized 'Ethan,' 'taking care of me,' and 'comfortable' with deliberate clarity.
Ashley's eyes flashed dangerously, and a chilling aura surrounded her.
"Is that so?" Ashley's voice was icy as she got up and went to her computer, using the GPS software Pauline had designed to locate Ava's address. "Where is Ethan?" she demanded sharply.
Ava sneered, "He was worn out last night. He's in the shower."
Her tone was suggestive, leaving much to the imagination.
But Ashley stayed remarkably composed. "Ms. Lacey, you really have some nerve. George must be blind to have such a disgusting girlfriend like you."
Without waiting for a response, Ashley angrily hung up, muttering, "Damn Ethan, you're so asking for it!"
Skipping her morning routine, Ashley quickly changed clothes and drove to the location.
Ethan came out of the bathroom just in time to see Ava putting his phone on the table.
Outraged, Ethan bellowed, "Annie, who said you could use my phone?!"
Ethan's low growl scared Ava, but she defiantly retorted, "Ethan, Ashley called, and since you were busy, I answered. Why are you so guarded against me? Did I do something wrong by answering your phone?"
Ethan's eyes turned cold. "Touch my phone again, and don't expect me to save George any face!"
Ethan grabbed the phone and called Ashley back, but she was driving fast and didn't hear the ringtone.
Ethan's phone gave a mechanical prompt, stirring unease within him. Afraid that Ashley might misunderstand, he grabbed his coat and headed out.
"Ethan!" Ava blocked him, "I made you breakfast. Eat before you go."
"Move," Ethan growled, pushing past her with disdain.
Ava blocked him again, and Ethan's foot accidentally kicked Ava's wheelchair. Losing his balance, Ava pulled Ethan's hand towards herself. Ethan, trying to avoid her, pushed her away and fell to the ground with a grunt.
Ava's eyes flashed, and she subtly followed Ethan to the ground, feigning a cry before throwing herself on top of him.Ethan's face turned livid, veins bulging on his forehead, and a storm-like aura emanated from him. He flipped over, pinning Ava to the ground, and grabbed her by the neck, roaring, "Annie, you want to die?!"
His grip was firm, and Ava's face turned red as she weakly struggled. "Ethan, let go of me, I can't breathe," she gasped.
Suddenly, the door swung open!
Ashley had rushed to Ava's place in a hurry. Seeing the door ajar, she pushed it open.
However, Ava's wheelchair was not far from the door, blocking half of the view. From Ashley's perspective, the scene looked highly suggestive.
Ethan loomed over Ava! And Ava's clothes were disheveled, her face flushed, as if they had just finished making love.
In a voice laced with disappointment and pain, Ashley cried out, "Ethan, what are you doing?!"
Ethan, exuding a violent aura, snapped back to reality at Ashley's shout, looking at her heartbroken face in shock.
"Honey," Ethan quickly got up to explain. "It's not what it looks like. I didn't do anything with her. You have to believe me."
However, the scene Ashley had just witnessed made it look like they were making love.
Ashley stood frozen, her gaze fixed on the scene before her, unable to snap out of it, her heart shattered and her mind reeling.
Ava sat up, greedily breathing in the air. After calming down, she shamelessly remarked, "Ethan, you're so rough. You hurt me."
Ashley turned her gaze to Ava, seeing the red marks on her neck, her flushed face, and messy hair, looking like she had been assaulted.
The sight pierced Ashley's heart, leaving her breathless with anguish.
"Annie, you're twisting the truth. Do you want to die?!" Ethan's voice carried a sharp edge.
He never expected Ava to provoke their relationship right in front of him. This woman was definitely not simple!
Ethan would thoroughly investigate Ava's intentions!
"Ethan!" Ashley's voice was icy, devoid of warmth. With a sudden motion, she delivered a resounding slap to Ethan's handsome face, tears brimming in her eyes as she cried out, "You have disappointed me so much!"
Holding back her tears, Ashley turned and left, crying uncontrollably as she walked away.
"Honey," Ethan's heart ached deeply, pained by Ashley's tears and her lack of trust in him.
Just as he was about to chase after her, his gaze hardened as he turned back to Ava, a cold gleam in his eyes. "Annie, until my people arrive, you're not going anywhere! If you don't explain this clearly, you will face dire consequences!"
