Chapter 197 Crisis Averted
Ashley left everyone stunned!
She took apart the heels of two pairs of shoes. Since the soles were uneven, she used tools and materials to smooth them out.
After some work, the once luxurious shoes looked even more stunning.
Despite her hands being in casts, Ashley was determined to fix the shoes, worried about the Yates Group's future. She pushed through the pain to get it done.
"Your Majesty."
From a luxury car, Kelsey watched coldly. Seeing Ashley work with her hands in casts, she couldn't help but admire her.
"Didn't expect her to stay calm and fix shoes on the spot. Our plan needs a change!"
Kelsey chuckled. "I'm surprised. I thought the Yates Group was done for!"
Last night, she orchestrated a sabotage, picturing Ethan pleading at her feet.
But Ashley pulled off a miracle!
Before, Kelsey thought Ashley wasn't good enough for Ethan and wanted to make her give up.
Now, she was reconsidering her judgment.
As Kelsey was lost in thought, a surprised cry came from the crowd.
Kelsey turned to the sound.
"Your Majesty, something's happening over there. I'll check it out."
"Let's go together!"
Kelsey and her guards got out of the car. Led by the guards, they reached the crowd. Through the gaps, she saw the shoes Ashley had modified!
"Those shoes were beautiful before but unapproachable. Now, they still look great but friendlier!"
"Either way, these shoes are eye-catching!"
"Miss, how much for these shoes?"
People praised the shoes and some wanted to buy them.
Ashley spotted Kelsey in the crowd. She smiled and said, "Your Majesty, do you like these shoes?"
The crowd realized Kelsey was there and made way for her.
Kelsey smiled nobly and moved closer to Ashley.
She looked at the shoes, her eyes full of amazement.
Kelsey asked coolly, "Why did you modify the shoes like this?"
"Your Majesty, I removed the heels for two reasons: first, I thought your feet might hurt from wearing high heels all day; second, the attire for your birthday celebration is all elegant and luxurious, and these modified shoes match your gown better and make you appear more approachable..."
Kelsey raised an eyebrow and sharply asked, "Are you saying I was too noble and unapproachable before?"
Ashley was momentarily taken aback, then replied, "You are the queen. Whether regal and aloof or approachable, you are still one of a kind in the hearts of your subjects."
Kelsey chuckled. "You really know how to flatter me."
She examined the shoes, clearly loving them.
Ashley noticed her fondness and asked, "Your Majesty, do you like these shoes?"
"They're alright."
"Then..." Ashley looked at her expectantly, "Will you still pursue the Yates Group?"
Kelsey raised an eyebrow, wanting to make things difficult, but with so many eyes on her, she knew the media might write negative articles if she pressed the issue.
Previously, Kelsey thought Ashley was just a pretty but foolish woman. However, she was shocked by her actions today and now believed she was entirely worthy of Ethan, significantly changing her view of Ashley.
"Alright."
Kelsey nodded and said to the guard beside her, "Inform the legal team to cancel the lawsuit against the Yates Group."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
With Kelsey's order, Ashley finally breathed a sigh of relief, and Diannel almost jumped for joy upon hearing the cancellation of the lawsuit.
"Mrs. Yates, you performed wonderfully today. I hope you can attend my birthday party."
Kelsey signaled to the guard, who took out two invitations, which Samantha accepted on Ashley's behalf.
"Thank you for your gracious invitation, Your Majesty."
"Alright, I have to go. You really saved the Yates Group's bacon this time."
Kelsey said this sourly and then turned to leave.
The crowd also dispersed, leaving only Ashley and her group.
After the crowd dispersed, Diannel, emotionally excited, said, "Mrs. Ashley Yates, the Yates Group wouldn't have made it through this crisis without you."
Saying this, Diannel took a step back and bowed deeply to Ashley.
"Diannel, don't do that. There's something I need your help with..."
