Chapter 118 The Zito Family Heiress

Ivy's heart was pounding. She felt guilty and tried to stay quiet, her body shaking. Luckily, the loose lab coat hid it.

She lowered her voice, "I... I..."

The doctor glanced at her name tag. "Oh, you're new. Lost?"

Ivy nodded. "Yes..."

"This is the testing room. Outsiders aren't allowed. You should leave."

Ivy quickly agreed. "Okay..."

She ran to a corner, ditched the lab coat by a trash can, and flushed Ashley's blood and hair down the toilet.

Terrified, it took Ivy a while to calm down.

Thinking about what she'd done, her eyelids twitched. She clasped her hands and prayed, "Ashley, you can't have kids, and I won't let Ethan be childless. Don't blame me!"

Ivy composed herself and left the restroom. Turning a corner, she bumped into someone.

Ready to curse, she realized it was her son.

Ethan looked confused. "Mom, why are you still here?"

Ivy's heart raced. "I had a stomachache and went to the restroom."

Ethan didn't think much of it. Seeing her head down, he said, "Mom, let me take you home."

Ivy looked up, surprised and hopeful. "Really?"

"Yes."

He had come out thinking Ivy had already left and felt a bit disappointed.

He loved his mom, but...

"I have to come back to take care of Ashley. So hurry up, I'll take you."

Ethan turned and walked ahead.

Ivy's joy vanished, replaced by bitterness.

'It's always about Ashley. Why is Ethan always so attentive to her?'

Ethan noticed Ivy hadn't followed. He turned back. "Why aren't you coming?"

Ivy quickly hid her gloomy look.

But Ethan noticed it.

He frowned, wondering why he saw such a sinister look in his mom's eyes.

"I'm coming."

Ivy followed, her high heels clacking on the floor. She almost twisted her ankle.

Ethan quickly supported her.

"Mom, you're not young anymore. Why wear such high heels? If you fall, you'll end up like Ashley, with limited mobility."

Ivy bit her lip.

'Ashley again!'

Ethan's words were meant to be caring, but to Ivy, it sounded like he was calling her clumsy and a burden.

"Mom, how about I get you some new flat shoes?"

Ethan, who rarely gave gifts, was about to take out his phone.

Ivy waved him off. "No need. High heels give me more presence. Let's go."

Ethan, feeling disappointed but not showing it, agreed. "Alright."

They left the hospital. The Yates family's car was waiting. The driver was about to open the door when Ethan gestured to stop.

Ethan opened the door himself. "Mom, be careful not to bump your head."

Ivy smiled. "Thank you, son."

She got into the car.

"Drive safely."

"Okay."

The rare warmth between mother and son left the driver stunned.

The driver got in and drove away. Ethan watched them leave before turning to go.

Ivy finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Mrs. Ivy Yates, I noticed Mr. Ethan Yates's attitude towards you has changed a lot. Are you planning to remarry Mr. James Yates?"

The driver, feeling comfortable enough to ask, gossiped.

Remarry?

Ivy's lips trembled. Instead of answering, she said, "Don't ask so many questions. I remember the Zito family's daughter is a well-known, gentle, and kind socialite. Change direction and take me to visit the Zito family."
