Chapter 113 Landon Asking for Trouble
Landon had already met with Ashley, but their last chat went south. Now, when Ashley saw him, she felt nothing but disdain and annoyance. Seeing the look in her eyes, Landon's face turned red with regret.
He knew he messed up by trusting Ava.
Today was the first official meeting between Ashley and Liam.
When they locked eyes, there was an odd sense of familiarity.
"I don't know if I'm your sister."
"Ashley, can I call you that?" Liam asked gently.
Ashley felt a strange fondness for him and nodded. "Yes."
"On my way here, I saw all the news. I can't believe Landon and I got tricked by that jerk, almost causing a disaster. Ashley, can you forgive us?"
Ashley stayed silent.
She never blamed them, so there was nothing to forgive.
Landon looked hopeful, but her silence made him think she was blaming him, which made him feel awful.
He wished he could slap himself to apologize.
Ashley glanced at Landon, who looked embarrassed and turned away.
"I still don't know if I'm your sister. We need another DNA test. So, whether I forgive you or not will have to wait."
Ashley smiled lightly. "If I'm not your sister, you'll be disappointed."
"You're right."
Ashley said, "Pauline, take me to get the test done."
"Okay."
"I'll do it," Landon offered, but Liam stepped in, gently placing Ashley in the wheelchair.
Seeing this, Landon's face flushed crimson, his cheeks burning with embarrassment.
Pauline followed Liam and noticed Landon blocking her way. She glared at him. "Why are you in my way?"
Landon pouted and stepped aside.
Pauline just thought he was strange.
Liam took Ashley to the testing room. After drawing blood, they had to wait a few days for the results.
Liam pushed Ashley back to the ward, and on the way, they ran into a frantic Ethan.
"Honey!"
Ashley's eyes lit up when she saw him.
"Honey!"
Ethan turned around and saw Ashley in her miserable state, his heart aching.
"Damn Ava, she did this to you."
Ethan felt both heartache and guilt.
Ashley wanted to hug him but couldn't move. "Honey, I'm fine. Don't worry."
Ethan tenderly cupped her face, his eyes full of apology. "Sorry about everything you've endured."
Ashley's smile froze, and there was a hint of sorrow in her eyes. "Honey, I'm sorry, I won't be able to give you children in the future…"
Ethan's throat felt dry, and he held her tightly yet gently. "It's okay, we can adopt."
He never blamed Ashley for not being able to have children; he only blamed himself for not protecting her.
The two embraced, crying silently, yet exuding an atmosphere of happiness.
This warm and sweet scene brought tears to the eyes of those around them.
Ryan made a 'let's go' gesture, and the people around quietly left.
Ryan glanced at Pauline and said, "Ms. Miller, we meet again."
Pauline's face turned slightly red, and she looked away. Seeing May, she said helplessly, "Why did you follow?"
"I came to see Ashley. She doesn't seem to be in a position to see me right now, but it's okay. Mr. Reid just lost a bet with me and has to drink a dozen beers. Come on, let's go drink!"
May grabbed Ryan with one hand and Pauline with the other, pulling them outside.
Landon looked at Ashley and Ethan with a complex expression. "Liam, I said so many hurtful things to Ashley before and did so many bad things. Do you think she can forgive me?"
