Chapter 111 Ava Gets Caught
Ethan frowned, staring at the woman who had just barged in. He didn't know her, so why was she calling him Mr. Yates?
A wave of astonishment swept across the room.
"Who is she?"
"Does she know Ethan? Is she Ashley's student?"
"I know her. She's a top student from the police academy, known for her detective skills. Maybe she found evidence against Ms. Lee?"
Ava felt flustered hearing the woman was a crime-solving expert but tried to stay calm.
May's eyes locked onto Ava, whose eyes flickered with panic.
Seeing this, May smiled and grabbed Ava's wrist.
Ava's face changed. "What are you doing? I don't know you. Let go of me!"
"You said Mr. Yates had no evidence and even tried to counter-sue him. How could I let you go? Today, I'm going to expose you!"
May placed a box down and grabbed Ava, who tried to escape. Reporters swarmed in, blocking her way.
"Everyone, these are the pieces of evidence I found at The Yates Mansion."
"The accident scene was a camera blind spot, and other cameras were damaged, but there were still traces left."
May showed a piece of evidence. "These are the footprints from the scene. Besides Michael and Katherine's, there's also a woman's footprint!"
Ava's face went pale, almost collapsing.
May pressed Ava onto a chair and matched her foot to the footprint template.
"That's not my footprint!"
"If it's not yours, then verify it. Why are you struggling? Feeling guilty?"
May's words hit home.
Ava stiffened, wanting to struggle, but the murmurs around her grew louder. "Why is she struggling so hard? Could there be another twist?"
"I'm appalled. She appeared to be pitiful and innocent, but she's done so many bad things."
Ava clenched her palm, her face alternating between red and white. "It's not like that. I didn't harm anyone..."
May ignored her excuses and pressed her footprint onto the template. Ava tried to struggle, but it was too late.
"Let's compare them."
The footprint matched perfectly with the one from the scene!
The crowd was in an uproar.
"Unbelievable, she's really the culprit?"
Ava retorted, "I'm not the culprit. After the accident, I went to the scene. The footprint is just a coincidence. This doesn't mean I'm the culprit!"
Everyone exchanged looks again.
Everyone was in a daze. Who was the real culprit?
May sneered, "I knew you'd make excuses! My master got a text from Michael this afternoon, asking her to meet him on the mountain. She was attacked and almost died! Ms. Lee, ring any bells?"
Ava's eyes flickered. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Ethan was shocked, his heart pounding. He'd been busy all afternoon and had no idea Ashley was in danger.
He stepped forward, demanding, "Ashley was attacked this afternoon? Is she okay?"
May replied, "Mr. Yates, she rolled down a slope and broke her arms and legs."
Ethan's eyes widened, filled with complex emotions. He glared at Ava, his gaze like daggers.
Ava swallowed hard, terrified.
Ethan was furious. "Ava, if you did this, you'll pay dearly!"
He felt both guilty and hateful, the conflicting emotions tearing him apart.
His cold demeanor stunned everyone. No one expected him to be so ruthless, even with the media present.
Ava shook her head in fear. "It wasn't me... I'm not the culprit..."
May said, "It was you! We found Michael's phone with fingerprints that weren't his!"
Ava collapsed weakly onto the chair. She had planned everything but forgot to destroy the fingerprints.
"This document shows Mr. Reid found your fingerprints in the database and matched them to Michael's phone. You used his phone to harm Ashley, Michael Yates, and Katherine!"
May overlaid the fingerprints, and they matched perfectly.
The crowd was in an uproar again.
"It's confirmed. Ms. Lee is the criminal..."
Ethan's face turned ashen, veins bulging on his forehead. Ava had harmed his grandparents and the woman he loved. He would seek revenge.
At that moment, two police officers arrived.
"Ms. Lee, you're involved in illegal activities. Please come with us!"
Ava couldn't argue but laughed maniacally, her eyes filled with hatred as she looked at Ethan.
"Ethan, don't be too pleased with yourself. Do you think you've won?"
Ethan coldly stared at her, seeing a madwoman.
Ava laughed hysterically. "There's one more thing you don't know. I had someone give Ashley a drug..."
Ethan's eyes filled with murderous intent. "Ava, you're courting death!"
"She'll never have children! Either you divorce her and marry someone else, or be prepared to hand over the Yates Group fortune to others!"
