Ava asked, "Ms. Wilson, do you know about the Rocky Mountains kidnapping?"
Ashley nodded. "I grew up in the Rocky Mountains orphanage. It was a big deal back then, so I heard about it."
Ethan raised an eyebrow at Ashley. "What a coincidence, you two should know each other."
Ava also grew up in that orphanage!
Ashley looked closely at Ava. "She does look familiar, but I can't place her."
The more she looked, the more familiar Ava's eyes seemed, but her face was strange.
Ava laughed awkwardly. "After I saved Ethan, the Yates family sponsored me to study abroad. I must've missed you, Ms. Wilson."
Ava's eyes flashed as she studied Ashley. Her heart skipped a beat. How could it be her?
"Oh, really."
Ashley lost interest. She glanced at Ethan, who was playing with his wine glass, looking distant.
'What's up with him?'
The atmosphere got awkward.
Ava said, "Ms. Wilson, I've known Ethan for over a decade, and we've been together for three years. We have a deep bond. Ethan's just afraid of bad press, which is why he's cold to me. I believe he loves me. I just want to be by his side. I hope you won't make things hard for me."
"Ethan, let me stay with you, okay?"
Ava tried to hold his hand. Ethan looked annoyed and tried to pull away, but Ava clung to him, burying her face in his chest.
Ethan frowned, clearly impatient.
He wanted to push her away but didn't want to embarrass her in front of everyone. They'd known each other for over a decade, and she was a celebrity.
Seeing them together, Ashley felt a pang of irritation.
Ashley said, "Some girls these days have no shame, trying to be the third wheel."
She was calling Ava the third wheel.
Ava's face turned red and white. "Ms. Wilson, you ruined my relationship with Ethan. You're the third wheel."
Ashley replied, "Blame fate. No one knows you and Ethan were a couple, but everyone knows he and I are married. Who do you think is the third wheel?"
Ava was furious. "Ethan, see how she's bullying me."
"Enough, Ava. Don't make it worse, or we won't even be friends."
Ethan checked the time. "It's late. I need to go home with my wife. Do as you please."
He stood up, took Ashley's hand, and walked away quickly.
Ashley looked back, seeing Ava's face change dramatically, stomping her feet in anger.
Ava's gaze turned icy. Why was this woman back? Wasn't she...
Thinking of something, she called for a driver. She needed to go to Coralyn right away to confirm something!
In the car, Ethan drove seriously while Ashley watched him closely. "Ethan, do you still love Ms. Lee?"
Ethan's hand paused, deep in thought.
Did he love Ava?
Ashley looked at him, trying to hide her expectations. If he really loved that woman, what would she do...
