Chapter 59 Flattery
When Ava started complaining, her two brothers exchanged looks.
Landon said, "Ava, you're the White family heiress. You can get any guy you want. Don't sweat over some jerk."
Liam chimed in, "Yeah, Ava, forget that jerk. I'll find you someone better."
Ava shot back, "Landon, Liam, my boyfriend's not a jerk. He got tricked by that woman. He loves me, but he had to marry her out of duty. We're the ones in love. Brother, please help me..."
So that was the deal!
"Got a photo of her? If it's like you say, we'll find her and have a chat."
"I do. I'll send it to you!"
"Alright."
After hanging up, Ava sent over a photo.
The brothers opened it and saw Ashley.
Liam said, "No way, her? She looks so put-together. How could she be the one stealing someone else's man?"
Landon said, "You never really know people. I need to meet her and see who gave her the nerve to mess with Ava."
A dark glint flashed in Landon's eyes.
He quickly texted Ava: [Got her contact info?]
Ava smirked and sent a number before turning off her phone.
Her plan was genius—let Ashley's brother handle it. They'd tear each other apart, and she'd come out on top.
"This is Ms. Wilson's number. Landon, make sure you get the facts straight before doing anything. What if it's a misunderstanding?"
Liam felt something was off about Ava's story.
Landon said, "Anyone who messes with Ava is unforgivable. I've got the perfect way to humiliate her!"
A cold light flashed in Landon's eyes.
Liam shivered. "What way?"
Landon sneered, "By over-praising her!"
Liam felt a chill. Landon was always ruthless; Ashley was in for it...
Ferndale.
The palace was decked out with all kinds of delicacies. Kelsey said, "Mr. Yates, thanks for finding someone as talented as Elisa. I can't believe she designed such amazing stuff in just three days. I can't wait to see the final product."
"Mr. Yates, Mrs. Yates, Elisa, a toast to you."
The three of them responded together, "Thank you, Your Majesty."
"Your Majesty, since you're happy with the final product, about the remaining payment..."
Before Ethan could finish, Kelsey said, "No rush. Once the final product is out in three days, if there are no issues, I'll pay the rest as agreed."
"Alright."
Kelsey then looked at Samantha. Noticing Kelsey's gaze, Samantha lowered her head, feeling super nervous.
Seeing this, a flicker of doubt crossed Kelsey's eyes. "Elisa, I really love your work. Can I make a bold request?"
"Your Majesty, please go ahead."
"Could you design something on the spot? Anything, just based on your spontaneous creativity."
"This..."
Samantha glanced at Ashley.
Ashley gave her a subtle signal, and Samantha awkwardly said, "Your Majesty, I can, but I've been working overtime the past few days, and my wrist hurts. I can't hold a pen."
"Oh, I'm very sorry to hear that..."
Samantha was extremely nervous inside.
After a moment of scrutinizing, Kelsey smiled lightly and said, "It's alright."
She then turned her gaze to Ashley, seemingly speculating something.
Throughout the banquet, the four of them kept their thoughts to themselves, remaining silent until the end.
After the banquet, Samantha linked arms with Ashley and said to Ethan, "Mr. Yates, may I borrow your wife for a moment?"
Before Ethan could react, Ashley was pulled to a corner.
"Samantha, what are you doing?"
"Ashley, I can't keep this up. Every time Kelsey looks at me, I feel so guilty. I always feel like she has discovered something. Maybe she knows that I'm pretending to be you..."
"Shh!"
They looked around.
After confirming no one was around, Ashley said, "Don't lose your nerve. Just hold on for the next three days, and we can go back home."
"For the next three days, I'll pretend to be sick and stay in bed. I'm afraid she might suddenly ask me to create something on the spot again."
"Alright then."
After their conversation, the three of them returned to their accommodations.
As soon as Ethan and Ashley got home, Ethan asked, "What were you talking about with Samantha? It seemed so secretive."
"We were just having some girl talk. Why are you so curious?"
Ashley snorted arrogantly, "I'm going to freshen up first."
With that, she grabbed her change of clothes and headed to the bathroom.
Ethan shook his head helplessly. This woman was getting a bit too spoiled.
With nothing else to do, he took out his phone and browsed the news.
#Mrs. Yates, a gifted designer, unparalleled in the future!#
#Mrs. Yates vs. Elisa, I prefer Mrs. Yates' style!#
At first glance, these headlines seemed to praise Ashley.
However, the tactic of praising one while belittling the other was a clear attempt to sow discord.
Sensing something was off, Ethan made a call. "Diannel, find out who's behind these trending posts. What are they trying to achieve?"
As far as he knew, Ashley and Elisa were friends. Such attempts to sow discord—was it to break their friendship, or was there another motive?
