Chapter 186 Catherine and George's hatred
"Dad, you okay?"
James rushed to help Michael, who looked pale and was clutching his chest.
Michael waved him off. "Catherine, I never thought you'd stoop to that!"
Catherine shrugged. "Dad, that's not fair. I bought it with good intentions. You can't expect me to spend money for nothing!"
Michael laughed coldly, pointing to the door. "I have nothing to say to you. Get out!"
"You!"
Catherine stomped her foot in anger. "Even if the Yates Group is powerful, it can't fight the royal family of Ferndale. If you keep being stubborn, you won't get any of this money! The Yates Group is doomed!"
"Get out! Now!"
Michael's anger triggered a heart attack. He clutched his chest, convulsing. "Medicine... my medicine..."
"Dad, hold on! I'll get it!"
James hurried to the medical kit, found the medicine, and tried to give it to Michael, but he choked and spat it out. James ran to the kitchen for water.
Meanwhile, Catherine and George exchanged hateful glances. Michael, in severe pain, reached for the medicine bottle, but it rolled to George's feet.
"George... medicine... give me the medicine..." Michael pleaded.
George's eyes were filled with hatred. He thought, 'Crush it, kick it away, let him die!'
George hesitated, unsure of what to do.
Catherine's eyes turned red, and she bent down to pick up the bottle.
Michael, convulsing but still clear-minded, saw their expressions and was shocked and terrified.
James ran back with water. "Dad, here's the water. Take the medicine."
He didn't notice Catherine and George's panicked and guilty faces, but Michael did.
Catherine froze, and George's eyes flickered. He bent down to pick up the scattered pills. "Uncle James, the medicine's all over the floor. Grandpa has a heart condition; he should keep it on him just in case."
He handed the medicine to James.
James gave Michael the medicine and water. After Michael took it, James sighed in relief. "Thanks, George."
Catherine laughed awkwardly. "James, I didn't mean what I said earlier. Don't take it to heart."
James replied, "No worries."
"Ethan's unreachable, and the whole Yates Group is relying on him..."
James sighed. "Blame me for being useless! If Jimmy were still here, with his smarts, maybe he could help us through this."
He was talking about Jimmy Yates, his younger brother, who was also Catherine's husband, George's father, and Michael's second son.
Jimmy had died young in an accident.
His name hadn't come up in years, and now that it did, everyone got quiet, and the mood turned somber.
Michael's chest pain eased. After recovering, he quietly watched Catherine and George.
"Catherine, George, thanks for your concern, but the Yates Group and the mansion aren't for sale. You can leave now."
Catherine pouted. "Fine, we're leaving. Goodbye."
She pulled George away.
Ivy, who had been eavesdropping by the door, hid in a corner. After they walked away, she emerged, looking shocked.
Ivy had seen everything and her mind was racing.
She saw Catherine trying to destroy the life-saving medicine and believed it was real.
She couldn't understand why Catherine and George would do such a thing. Curious, she secretly followed them.
As Catherine and George walked away, they talked.
"George, why did you stop me? We had a perfect chance for revenge!"
"Mom, if you acted then, you'd have exposed yourself. Do you want to spend the rest of your life in prison?"
Catherine was silent for a moment, then angrily said, "So what do we do? Just let it go and not avenge your father?"
George was quiet for a moment, then looked back at the Yates mansion.
Ivy gasped and quickly covered her mouth, hiding in the bushes. Her phone vibrated in her pocket.
Catherine exclaimed, "What was that sound? Who's there?"
Ivy's spine tingled, and cold sweat dripped from her forehead.
Oh no!
Had she been discovered?
