Chapter 143 Rational Reasoning

Ethan could have any woman he wanted, but since marrying Ashley, he stayed loyal and kept other women at bay, focusing all his love on her.

When Felicity falsely accused him, Ethan worried Ashley would misunderstand and believe Felicity, which made him sad and disappointed.

To his surprise, Ashley quickly saw through the lie, impressing him.

Ethan's eyes lit up. "Honey, I didn't know you had detective skills."

Ashley smiled. "I learned it from TV shows."

"Really?"

Ethan stared at her, skeptical. TV shows were all over the place; how could she learn detective skills from them? There must be more to Ashley than he knew.

Felicity didn't expect Ashley to see through her so easily.

Ashley asked, "Ms. Zito, are you going to admit your mistake, or do we need to investigate this further? Do you know how many years a false accusation and trespassing can get you?"

Felicity knelt, begging for mercy. "I'm sorry, Aunt Ivy made me do it. She forced me to get pregnant with Ethan's child; otherwise..."

Felicity continued, "Please forgive me. I won't do it again."

Ethan snorted. "So Mom was behind this! Both of you need to be dealt with."

Ashley asked sadly, "Why would Mom do this?"

Felicity replied, "She didn't want a daughter-in-law who couldn't have children, so she made me do it."

Although Ashley had guessed this, hearing it bluntly hurt.

Ethan commanded, "Get out!"

Felicity ran off, and Ethan's eyes showed a hint of anger. 'I'll deal with you tomorrow for this!'

Ashley saw his anger and said, "Ethan, Ms. Zito was forced. Don't make things difficult for her."

"She tried to sabotage us repeatedly. Even if Mom was the instigator, both must pay."

Ethan's eyes were cold. "No one messes with me!"

Ethan stared at her. "Honey, thank you for trusting me. Most people would have believed what they saw. I thought you wouldn't trust me."

Ashley said, "No need to thank me. I was shocked at first and almost blamed you. But after calming down, I checked her and found the details. When I scared her, she confessed."

Ethan nodded, then asked, "What were you smelling on her just now?"

Ashley's face turned red. "I was smelling her scent."

"She didn't have your scent on her. If two people had done that, there would be a scent of desire. I can smell it right away."

Ethan was amazed and delighted. "You remember my scent so well? You must have deep feelings for me."

He smiled charmingly, a glint of mischief in his eyes.

Ashley rolled her eyes. This man was shameless. But his teasing made her blush and her heart race, a traitorous flutter that she couldn't deny.

Ethan asked, "Honey, did you really learn your reasoning from TV shows? I don't believe it. Is there something else I don't know about you?"

Ashley's eyes flickered, and she changed the subject. "Of course, didn't you investigate me? How can you still not believe me?"

When they first got married, Ethan didn't trust Ashley and investigated her thoroughly.

Hearing this, Ethan let go of his doubts and speculated, "Following this reasoning, that night was likely a setup by Mom and Felicity. I never touched her."

Ashley thought for a moment. "It's possible!"

Ethan raised an eyebrow. "So, Honey, this was all a misunderstanding. Please don't divorce me."

Ethan, usually so proud, was humbling himself to save their marriage, disregarding his dignity and pride.
