Chapter 15 Something Went Wrong
Ashley took a nap and woke up to find it was already 5 PM.
Just then, the phone rang.
It was the old man she had saved before, inviting her to a family dinner his wife had prepared. Ashley couldn't say no so sheagreed.
He sent a driver to pick her up, and when she arrived, she was surprised to see they lived in a luxurious villa.
After dinner, Ashley was ready to leave.
The elderly couple insisted she stay as a guest. Ashley tried to decline but couldn't resist the old lady's tearful pleas, so she softened and agreed.
So, she stayed with the Yates family for over half a month.
During this time, she played chess and chatted with Michael, helped Katherine with the garden, and talked about daily life. They got along great.
One day.
Ashley and Katherine were in the kitchen making lunch.
Katherine said, "Ashley, you're a guest. Let me handle the cooking."
Ashley replied, "Don't work yourself out. You should sit down; I'll make lunch."
Katherine looked at her, full of joy. "You're so capable, both in the living room and the kitchen. Such a good girl, I wonder which lucky guy will marry you in the future."
Ashley smiled without saying a word.
"By the way, my grandson has been on a business trip for half a month. He's coming back today, so please prepare a few more dishes for lunch."
"Okay, no problem."
Ashley paused while cutting vegetables. Katherine's reminder made her think of that arrogant, sharp-tongued jerk. Michael said his name was Ethan!
She had almost forgotten about it, but the thought of seeing him again made her feel awkward and blush.
Although she had stayed with the Yates family for more than half a month, Ashley had never mentioned Ethan's job as a gigolo to the couple.
To avoid conflict, she decided to leave as soon as possible.
"Ashley, why is your face so red? Are you feeling unwell?"
Ashley awkwardly said, "Grandma, I'm fine. I'll finish cooking and then head home. I have work to do."
She liked Michael and Katherine a lot, but she had no fondness for Ethan and didn't want to see him at all.
"Alright, come visit us old folks when you have time."
"Yes, I will."
Ashley nodded obediently and hurriedly continued cutting vegetables, hoping to leave before Ethan returned.
At the airport.
Ethan walked out from the exit, where Diannel had been waiting for a long time. "Mr. Yates, welcome back."
Ethan responded indifferently.
"How did the talks with the Queen of Ferndale go?"
"She wants to dazzle everyone at her birthday party. For her clothing, shoes, hats, and jewelry designs, she needs to communicate directly with the designer."
Ethan said, "Contact Elisa to finalize the contract and book two tickets. We need to go to Ferndale to meet Kelsey as soon as possible."
"Okay, Mr. Yates."
"I need to visit my grandparents at the old house. Handle the company matters for me; I'll be there soon."
"Alright."
After giving all the instructions, Ethan drove back to the old house.
At the old house,
Ashley had prepared many delicious dishes, making the table look mouth-watering.
"Ashley, stop now. These dishes are enough for us."
"Okay, I'm almost done."
As she spoke, Ashley brought out a bowl of soup and placed it on the table. "Alright, all the dishes are ready."
Ashley took off her apron. "I won't be staying for lunch. I need to rush home."
"Is it urgent? Can't you stay for a meal?"
Ashley forced a smile. "Yes, it's quite urgent. I'll just go upstairs to get some things."
"Alright then..."
Ashley turned and went upstairs. She had drawn many valuable sketches during her stay with the Yates family, and she needed to take them back.
At that moment, Ethan had just returned to the old house. As soon as he entered, he said, "Grandpa, Grandma, I'm back. I brought you some gifts."
"Ethan's back."
Michael and Katherine came to greet him.
Ethan smelled the aroma of food. "Who made all these dishes? They smell so good."
Michael and Katherine exchanged a smile.
"Ethan, you must be tired from the long flight. Sit down and have meal."
Ethan sat down as instructed and took a few bites of the food, immediately savoring the taste.
It was delicious!
But why did it taste exactly like the dishes made by his neighbor?
"Oh no, oh no, the guest has fainted..."
