Chapter 94 A Disastrous Encounter

"Ms. Wilson, you look a lot like someone I know."

The more Landon stared, the more she reminded him of his mom.

"Oh?" Ashley raised an eyebrow. "Mr. White, are you trying to hit on me? That line's ancient!"

Landon chuckled, then cleared his throat. "Just kidding. I'm here for something serious."

Ashley raised an eyebrow. "About your sister?"

What could a rival's brother possibly want?

Landon nodded. "Yep."

He pulled out a check and scribbled a number. "Take this and leave Ethan."

Ashley glanced at the check—300 million dollars.

"Mr. White, you're really pulling out all the stops for your sister!"

Three hundred million would make anyone else ecstatic, but for Ashley, it was pocket change.

"This is more than enough for you to live comfortably forever. Don't be stupid and refuse."

Ashley scoffed. "What if I do refuse?"

Landon's eyes darkened. "Then you better be prepared for what I'm gonna do."

Ashley laughed. "What are you gonna do? Force me to divorce Ethan?"

"You!"

Landon was speechless.

He had power, but something held him back from being harsh with her.

Ashley sneered. "Take your money back. I'm not leaving Ethan."

"Is it not enough?"

Ashley shot back, "Mr. White, have you ever been in love?"

Landon frowned. "What's that got to do with anything?"

Ashley said, "If you truly loved someone, no amount of money could sway you."

She looked serious. "I love Ethan. This feeling is priceless. Even if you offered me three billion, I wouldn't take it."

Ethan, just outside the door, heard everything.

Her firm tone made his heart swell.

Landon stood up, stern. "Ms. Wilson, if you think the money's too little, we can negotiate. My sister loves Ethan too. If you leave, they can be together."

"Love is mutual. One-sided love won't win his heart, even if I'm gone."

"You!"

Landon was fuming!

Ashley looked at him smugly.

Their eyes locked, tension thick in the air.

For the first time, Landon was so angry his face turned red. "You talk like Ethan really likes you. Has he even said anything about liking you back?"

Ashley's heart sank.

Seeing her hesitate, Landon thought he had her.

"I bet he hasn't. Ms. Wilson, here's my card. Think about the price. Leave him, and I'll pay any amount. You have one day to consider, or the offer's off the table."

Ethan, unable to stay silent, burst in. "Who says I don't like her?"

Ashley, feeling down, suddenly felt hope.

"Ethan..."

Her voice trembled.

Ethan stepped forward and gently touched her hand.

"If I didn't like her, would I have married her, let her get pregnant, and done all those things with her?"

The first part made Ashley's heart race. The last part made her want to hide, her face red with embarrassment.

"Ethan, even if you like her, it doesn't matter. You've publicly said you'll marry Ms. White!"

"We've set the date. You can't back out!"

Was the Yates family really marrying into the White family?

Ashley felt like she were on a roller coaster.

"About that, Ava will explain."

Before anyone could ask, Ethan ordered, "Mr. White, my wife needs rest. Don't disturb us again."

Landon was unhappy but saw no point in staying.

"Fine, I'm leaving!"

Before leaving, he gave Ashley a deep look, his emotions unreadable.

"The door's that way. Don't let it hit you on the way out!"

Ethan moved to block Ashley from Landon's view.

Even though they were siblings, Landon's gaze made him uncomfortable.

After Landon left, Ashley grabbed Ethan's hand. "Ethan, are you really going to marry Ms. White?"

Ethan was gentle. "Silly, don't you trust me?"

Ashley pouted. "How can I? You made a promise to marry Ms. White. If you break your promise, won't the Yates Group's stock plummet?"
