Chapter 64 Being Watched
Ashley ran out of folic acid and headed to the nearby pharmacy to grab a bottle. When she got back, she saw the greeter blocking Ella and Tom.
Tom snapped, "Listen, my daughter has been married to the richest guy around. We're not beggars. If you Insult us, my son-in-law will deal with you!"
"Yeah, do you even know who my daughter and son-in-law are? Mess with us, and you're asking for trouble!"
They started grappling with the greeter.
Ashley, feeling embarrassed, covered her face. She figured her parents, being from the countryside, just didn't get proper etiquette.
She stepped in. "Mom, Dad, stop it."
"Sorry about this. Can you book us a private room and get them some clothes to change into?" Ashley handed the greeter a VIP card.
The VIP card was super rare, with only 10 in the whole chain. It meant she had serious status.
The greeter's attitude changed instantly. "Of course, Ma'am, right this way."
Tom, still fuming, said, "Ashley, he disrespected us. You need to stand up for us. Don't you rich people have lawyers? Sue him!"
Ashley felt a headache coming on. "Dad, let it go. It's not worth it."
After apologizing again, Ashley pulled her parents inside, feeling ashamed.
Ella noticed Ashley's expression and scolded Tom, "When will you change your temper? You embarrassed our daughter."
"Ashley, your dad's just got a bad temper. Don't hold it against him. He's got a sharp tongue but a soft heart."
Ella's words made Ashley feel a bit better.
"Mom, I'm not mad. Order whatever you want. It's on me today."
"You're so sweet."
Ella shot Tom a warning look.
Tom said, "Ashley, then I won't hold back. I've never had such fancy food. Let's try everything on the menu."
Ashley was stunned. "There are over 100 dishes. We can't finish them all, and it'll be a waste."
"Back in the day, Louis XIV had over 100 dishes for dinner. Let me enjoy that too."
"These dishes are expensive. Over 100 would cost a fortune. You're making it hard for her."
"How am I making it hard? If she can't afford it, she can say no!"
Ashley, feeling another headache, said, "Mom, Dad, stop arguing. I'll have the waiter bring every dish."
"That's my girl!"
An hour later.
They ordered so many dishes that the private room couldn't fit them all. The waiter had to set up four tables.
When over 100 dishes were served, it was quite a scene.
"Look, only three people eating over 100 dishes."
"It's hilarious. Have they never eaten before?"
"Isn't that woman Ethan's wife? The one from the news?"
People around were whispering.
Tom tried some food. "Hmm, this is good. Ugh, what is this? A black truffle? It's disgusting..."
Ashley covered her face, mortified.
"Haha, this is too funny. They look like country bumpkins. If Ethan saw this, he'd be so embarrassed. He might dump their daughter on the spot..."
