Chapter 167 Ashley's Stubbornness

Ashley chuckled, "Ethan, I'm tougher than I look. As long as I stick to my rehab, I'll be fine."

Ethan sighed, "You're so stubborn. If you need anything, let me help. I'll carry you to wash up."

Ashley felt embarrassed at the thought of Ethan helping with such personal tasks. She didn't want Ivy's plan to work or to show this side of herself to Ethan.  She would rather endure the pain than compromise.

Blushing, she said, "Ethan, I can manage."

Ethan looked at her intently, "We've been together so long, why are you still shy?"

Ashley blushed more, avoiding his gaze. "You're busy, I don't want to waste your time..."

Ethan smirked, "It's just helping you wash up, not a big deal."

Ashley playfully glared at him. Ethan laughed, picked her up, and headed to the bathroom.

Outside, Ivy was eavesdropping, hoping Ethan would be disgusted with Ashley. But hearing no arguments made her anxious.

"Why is there no noise? My son isn't disgusted with her?"

Catherine, beside her, said, "Relax, it's just the beginning. The real show is tonight."

"Really?" Ivy was doubtful.

Catherine pulled her away. "Let's go before Ethan catches us."

"Alright."

They sneaked away. Inside, Ethan helped Ashley wash up and got her into bed.

"Ethan, thank you."

"Just saying thanks isn't enough; show it with actions."

Ashley laughed, leaned up, and kissed his cheek. "Thank you so much."

Ethan chuckled, "Not enough."

He pulled her in for a deeper kiss. Things heated up until Ashley's stomach growled loudly.

She snapped back, eyes wide. Feeling bloated, she feared she might fart.

Mortified, she quickly pulled back, leaving Ethan puzzled.

"What's wrong?" Ethan's voice was hoarse.

Ashley blushed. "Ethan, my stomach's acting up again."

"Let me take you to the bathroom."

"Okay."

Ethan helped her to the bathroom door. Ashley blushed, "I can manage from here. You should go."

Ethan looked confused. "You're having trouble moving; let me help."

"No, it's fine."

Just then, Ethan's phone rang. Ashley quickly said, "Your phone's ringing, go answer it."

"Alright, call me if you need anything."

"Okay."

Ethan left, and Ashley sighed in relief, locking the door and making her way to the toilet, holding onto the wall for support.

She sighed helplessly.

In the bathroom, she heard Ethan on the phone. After much effort, she finally made her way back to the door, drenched in cold sweat.

She opened the door and heard Ethan say, "Handle the emergency at the company as I instructed. Call me if anything comes up. Bye."

Ethan turned and saw Ashley by the door. "Ashley, why didn't you call me?"

He walked over to carry her, but she quickly shook her head.

"What's wrong?"

Ashley smiled slightly but then winced in pain. "Ethan, if there's something urgent at the company, go handle it. I can manage."

"No, you're not fully mobile. I'll stay and take care of you."

Ashley felt deeply touched. How did she deserve such love from Ethan? But the pain in her abdomen made her look very uncomfortable.

"Your work stuff comes first. Go handle it. If you're really worried, I'll have Sienna come over to help."

"She's pregnant; what help can she offer? I'll stay with you."

"Ethan..." Ashley said helplessly, "Don't worry about me. Go handle the company's issues. I'll take care of myself."

Ashley's eyes were resolute.

Ethan asked worriedly, "Are you sure you can manage?"

"Of course, I'm about to sleep."

"Alright then, I'll carry you to bed. Be good and let me know if you need anything."

"Okay."

Ashley's stomach was getting more uncomfortable. Ethan, unaware, carried her to bed and gently tucked her in.

He kissed her forehead and said, "Goodnight."

As he leaned in, Ethan noticed a strange smell coming from Ashley. He discreetly sniffed a few more times and detected a faint odor...
