Chapter 256 Secretly Conducting DNA Tests
Ashley was all puzzled and asked, "We just got some tiny scratches, why the heck do we need to draw blood?"
Ethan chimed in, "Who knows what kind of nasty stuff that villain might've had? Better safe than sorry, right?"
Liam, who had been itching to get Ashley's blood and hair for another DNA test, saw his golden chance.
Liam nodded, "Ethan's got a point. We should get a blood test. Who knows what that guy was carrying?"
With both of them insisting, Ashley just went with the flow.
They rolled up to the hospital, hopped out of the car, and got Nora into a bed. She was still out cold. After a bunch of tests, the doc said she was just scared stiff and might be out for a bit.
While they had some time, the three of them headed to the lab to get their blood drawn.
The Xavier family
Since her big blowout with Ethan, Ivy hadn't seen him at all. Whether she went to the Yates villa or the Yates Group, Ethan treated her like she was invisible.
Ivy was pacing around the Xavier family home, trying to figure out how to get close to Ethan again. Just then, her phone buzzed.
"Mrs. Yates, something's up," her assistant said.
"What now?" Ivy asked.
"Mr. Yates got hurt and is at the hospital, getting a blood test..."
Ivy's eyes lit up, "Send me the location, I'm on my way!"
She'd been stressing about how to approach Ethan, and now the perfect chance had dropped into her lap.
Ivy rushed to the hospital.
Hospital
Ivy carried some takeout she grabbed from a street vendor and a thermal container she just bought from a supermarket. Before heading in, she poured the chicken soup from the takeout into the thermal container.
As soon as she stepped into the hospital, she ran into Ashley, who was waiting for the elevator alone.
Ivy was about to call out to her when she spotted Ethan out of the corner of her eye.
Ethan said something to Ashley, and then they split up. Ashley got into the elevator, and Ethan headed to the lab.
Ivy followed him and saw Ethan talking to a doctor in the lab. She had no choice but to wait nearby.
By chance, she was near the stairwell and overheard a chat between a doctor and Liam.
"You gotta handle this seriously, no screw-ups!" Liam said.
"Don't worry, Mr. White. I got it," the doctor nodded.
A moment later, the doctor walked out of the stairwell, giving her a suspicious look. Then, Liam came out and was surprised to see Ivy.
Ivy smiled, trying to be friendly, "Mr. White, long time no see!"
She extended her hand, but Liam, remembering how Ivy had hurt Ashley, just snorted and walked past her without a word.
Ivy awkwardly pulled her hand back, muttering, "What's with the attitude? You think you're hot stuff because you started a hotel business? Just wait until the Market Street commercial area is built. I'll open a few chain hotels and take over your business in Aurora. Let's see how cocky you are then..."
Just as she finished, she saw Ethan coming out of the office with another doctor.
"Mr. Yates, I'll handle what you asked for ASAP," the doctor said.
"Good." As soon as he turned around, Ethan saw Ivy grinning at him.
"Ethan, all done?" Ivy asked.
Ethan's smile vanished, and he turned away coldly.
"Wait up. I heard you got hurt. I made some chicken soup for you. Where are you hurt? Drink some soup to feel better," Ivy chased after him.
Ethan stopped, and Ivy almost bumped into him. He turned around, his face icy, looking at her like she was a stranger, "Ms. Xavier, I issued an official statement this morning. We're done. Keep your distance from me, or I'll call the cops and charge you with harassment!"
"Ethan... Mr. Yates... I was just worried about you. If you don't want me here, I'll leave. I just wanted to see you drink the soup I made," Ivy said, upset. Ethan glanced at the thermal container in her hand and saw the price tag still on it. He sneered, "Seriously? Next time, put some effort into your act. You think I'm dumb?"
With that, he turned and walked away.
Ivy looked at his back, then at the thermal container in her hand, and angrily tossed it and the soup into the trash.
Her face red with anger, she suddenly thought, 'What's with all the secrecy? Are they up to something?'
Ivy's eyes gleamed, and she turned towards the lab.
