Chapter 379 Katherine's Condition Improves

After returning to the master bedroom, Ethan and Ashley shared an intimate moment. After telling stories to their unborn babies, Ashley fell asleep in his arms.

Gazing at her peaceful, sweet expression, Ethan kissed her forehead gently and whispered, "I love you, darling."

They slept in each other's arms until around 3 PM.

Later, Ethan led Ashley by the hand to the garden where they enjoyed afternoon tea with Michael before the family drove to the hospital.

Katherine remained silent throughout the journey, clearly preoccupied. Michael noticed her worry and held her hand, silently offering his support.

Upon arriving at the hospital for their scheduled appointment, Michael accompanied Katherine through a series of tests while Ethan waited nearby.

When Katherine was wheeled into the endoscopy room, Ethan asked with concern, "Grandma, I thought this follow-up was about checking your hands and feet. Why are they examining your stomach? Are you having digestive issues?"

A flash of sadness crossed Katherine's face before she forced a smile. "I'm just having a full check-up, Ethan. Nothing to worry about."

Ethan nodded, thinking nothing more of it as Katherine was taken into the examination room.

An hour later, all of Katherine's test results were ready. Ethan waited anxiously outside—Katherine had insisted only Michael accompany her inside.

Suddenly, a surprised voice came from within, "How is this possible?"

Ethan jumped to his feet, alarmed.

Ashley held him back. "Honey, don't worry. Grandma will tell us if something's wrong."

Ashley was only somewhat confident that the Panacea would have cured Katherine completely.

The doctor's astonished voice carried through the door, "Your last examination showed one condition, but now everything has changed. How is this possible?"

"Doctor, are you saying there's no hope for me?" Katherine asked.

"It's..." came the response.

Unable to contain himself any longer, Ethan burst into the doctor's office before the doctor could finish speaking.

"Grandma, what illness do you have? Why is there no hope?" he demanded frantically.

The doctor looked startled, glancing toward Katherine.

Michael and Katherine remained silent, both with guilt in their eyes.

"Ma'am, you shouldn't hide your condition from your family," the doctor said. "But I'm confused—during your previous examination, you had late-stage cancer. Now you're only showing early-stage symptoms!"

Ethan gasped. "What? Grandma, you have cancer? Why didn't you tell me?"

His voice was filled with shock and fear. He loved Katherine deeply as family and was terrified of losing her.

Before Katherine could explain, she asked in astonishment, "Doctor, are you saying I've gone from late-stage to early-stage cancer?"

"Yes! Have you taken something that could have improved your condition so dramatically?"

Katherine fell silent, contemplating. After a moment, she looked toward Ashley. Soon, Ethan and Michael followed her gaze, their expressions curious and suspicious.

They had all witnessed Ashley giving Katherine the Panacea.

Could that have been responsible?

Ashley laughed awkwardly. "Doctor, perhaps there was a misdiagnosis earlier? Maybe Katherine always had early-stage cancer but was incorrectly diagnosed with late-stage?"

Everyone considered this explanation, which seemed logical.

"That's possible," the doctor agreed. "After all, there's no medication on the market that can reverse late-stage cancer to early-stage. If such a drug existed, it would be in extraordinary demand! We must have misdiagnosed initially."

"Doctor, can early-stage cancer be controlled?" Ethan asked.

"Absolutely. Early-stage cancer has around a 50% success rate. With proper treatment, her condition should improve!"

Ethan's tension visibly eased as he took Katherine's hand. "Thank goodness we caught it in time. I can't imagine what might have happened otherwise."

Katherine was too shocked to speak.

Just then, Ashley's phone rang. It was Pauline.

Ashley stepped out of the room to answer.

"Ashley," Pauline said urgently, "everyone's submitting papers for the Yates Group medical symposium. Have you written yours yet? The deadline is in two days! If you don't hurry, you'll miss your chance!"
