Chapter 576 Jealousy

Yaakov was completely absorbed in his work at the laboratory. For over two weeks, he had secluded himself there, pouring all his energy into developing a new drug, completely oblivious to the outside world.

A staff member approached him. "Mr. Ford, don't push yourself too hard with this new drug development. Come have dinner—you need balance in your work life."

Without looking up, Yaakov replied, "I'm almost finished. You all can go home."

The staff member sighed, watching him work so diligently. "The drug our team was commissioned to develop has already been successfully completed. You should be able to rest now. Why are you still working so frantically?"

Yaakov's hands paused momentarily, a gleam flashing in his eyes. "I'm developing some extras, just as a precaution. Don't worry about me—go enjoy your dinner."

"Alright, but don't exhaust yourself."

After the laboratory staff left, Yaakov secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

The research institute's financial backers had commissioned cancer treatment drugs, but what Yaakov was working on was something entirely different.

He was actually developing a medication that could restore memories in amnesia patients.

If the investors found out, they would be furious, but Yaakov couldn't care less!

Liam had contacted him before returning to the country, claiming he had found Ashley, but she had lost her memory.

That was why Yaakov was developing this drug!

He was determined to help Ashley recover her memories!

After working alone in the lab for hours, Yaakov became too hungry to continue. He organized his materials and headed to the locker room, planning to go out for food.

When he opened his personal locker, a card fell out.

Yaakov picked it up. "Alan? Who's that?"

After racking his brain, he finally remembered. "Oh, right! He was that doctor who was deceived by the fake Asclepius. He mentioned his wife wanted to meet me. I promised to contact him, but I completely forgot in all the hustle!"

Yaakov smacked his forehead. "His wife could replicate my healing ointment. Could it be...?"

A thought flashed through Yaakov's mind.

In the entire world, the only person who could rapidly replicate pharmaceuticals, besides Ashley, simply didn't exist.

Yaakov's heart raced. "Could that wife... be Ashley?"

"No, that's impossible." he then murmured. Yaakov shook his head, trying to dispel these wild thoughts.

Suddenly, his phone rang. It was a colleague.

"Hello."

"Mr. Ford, there are three people at the entrance of the research institute. They say they want to see you."

"Who are they? What do they want?"

"I asked them. One of their fathers is ill, and they want your help with treatment. Can you meet them?"

Since Yaakov was about to go out for food anyway, he replied, "Tell them to wait for me."

"Will do."

Yaakov changed his clothes and headed out.

Meanwhile, outside the entrance, Ashley was waiting expectantly, asking curiously, "Darling, what do you think this Asclepius looks like? With such impressive medical skills, he must be an elderly doctor!"

"We'll find out soon enough," Ethan smiled, taking her hand in his. "Sweetheart, remember it's Atticus who needs the medicine, not you. Don't get too anxious—I might get jealous!"

Ashley found this both irritating and amusing. "Darling, I'm just curious about what Asclepius looks like!"

Ethan raised an eyebrow, looking toward Atticus with a challenging expression. "Darling, I'm afraid someone might steal you away from me."

Ashley's face immediately flushed red with embarrassment as everyone watched.

Atticus was speechless.

Ethan's lips curled into a smug, victorious smile.

When Yaakov reached the entrance, he saw four people waiting outside.

They all had their heads down, so he couldn't see their faces clearly.

"I heard you were looking for me?" Yaakov said.

The four looked up at the sound of his voice, surprised to see such a young man.

When Yaakov saw their faces, his pupils dilated in shock.

"Hello, are you Asclepius?" Atticus asked.

"Ashley! Ethan!" Yaakov exclaimed.

The expressions on everyone's faces were priceless.

Atticus glanced between the three of them, puzzled. "Do you all know each other?"

Ashley and Ethan exchanged bewildered looks.

Yaakov was overwhelmed with emotion. "Ashley! You heartless woman! We all thought you were dead! Do you have any idea how devastated we were? If your brother hadn't told me the truth, who knows how long I would have been kept in the dark!"

His voice grew increasingly emotional, tears welling in his eyes. "Ashley, it's been six years. I've missed you so much."

With that, Yaakov embraced Ashley tightly.

Ethan's face darkened instantly. "Get your hands off my wife!"
