Chapter 168 Help from a Friend
Doctors say if you have stomach issues, you might smell a bit until you get better.
Ashley never had body odor, so she didn't notice the smell from her upset stomach.
She saw Ethan's face change and sensed his impatience. "Ethan, what's wrong?" she asked.
"Nothing, I just have stuff to do. You should get some rest."
"Bye."
Ashley watched him leave, then struggled to pick up her phone to call Sienna.
When Sienna answered, Ashley said, "Can you come over? I really need you."
"Sure, send me your address. I'll be right there."
Sienna was working on a design sketch but agreed immediately when she heard Ashley's plea.
After hanging up, Ashley sent her location to Sienna.
She forced herself out of bed, holding onto the wall as she walked to the bathroom. Each step was painful and made her sweat.
What should've taken two minutes felt like forever. Only Ashley knew how much it hurt.
She finally reached the toilet and felt some relief, but a new problem arose.
She was drenched in sweat from the pain.
She sniffed herself and frowned. "Why do I smell so bad?"
Her sweat had a strange odor that made her want to vomit.
"It's too smelly. I need to wash up."
She moved to her wheelchair, holding onto the wall for support.
She went to the bathtub to run some water. After about half an hour, the tub was full, but she couldn't soak in it. Instead, she grabbed a towel to wipe off her sweat.
She struggled to wet the towel and wipe herself down.
The process was painful, but she persisted.
After a few wipes, she couldn't take it anymore.
Her phone rang. Ashley tried to answer it, but the wet floor caused her wheelchair to slip. She cried out as she fell.
With a loud thud, she hit the floor, looking miserable.
"It hurts..."
"Is anyone there? Please help me..."
She called out, but there was no response in the big house.
At the villa's front door.
Sienna stood outside, calling Ashley, but the call wouldn't connect, leaving her puzzled.
"A friend of Ashley's? I think you're a scammer. Leave now, or I'll call the police," Ivy said, trying to shoo Sienna away.
"Ma'am, I really am Ashley's friend. She called me to come help her. Something must have happened for her not to answer. Please let me in to check on her," Sienna pleaded.
Ivy sneered, "This is the Yates family villa, a private residence. Do you think you can just come in here whenever you want? Why should I believe you? Leave now and stop wasting my time."
"Don't be so quick to chase me away. Let me try calling her a few more times," Sienna said, dialing again.
But each time, the call wouldn't connect.
Sienna felt uneasy. Ashley had asked her to come but wasn't answering. She suspected something was wrong.
Seeing Ivy's skeptical look, Sienna had an idea. She spoke into the unanswered phone, "Ashley, it's me. You asked me to come help you. Okay, I'm coming up now..."
"Are you really her friend?" Ivy was half-convinced. "Give me the phone, and I'll confirm with her."
As Ivy reached for the phone, Sienna dodged and put the phone down. "Mrs. Yates, Ashley asked me to come up. What more confirmation do you need? I'm wasting time here. I'll go up now."
With that, Sienna pushed her way inside.
Ivy, caught off guard, laughed in exasperation. "You're so rude. Did I say you could go in? Her room is over there..."
Ignoring Ivy's complaints, Sienna turned and walked in the direction Ivy pointed. Once inside, she saw Thomas and asked, "Hello, can you tell me where Ashley's room is?"
"Mrs. Ashley Yates' room is the master bedroom on the second floor. I'll take you there."
"Thank you."
Thomas led Sienna to Ashley's master bedroom. Sienna knocked on the door and called out, "Ashley, it's me. Are you there? I'm coming in."
There was no response.
"Ashley? Why isn't she answering?"
"Ms. Nelson, should we go in and check?"
"Okay."
They opened the door to find the room empty.
"Where's Ashley?"
From the bathroom, Ashley heard Sienna's voice and weakly called out, "Sienna, help me, help me..."
