Ava felt like she had just stumbled upon some juicy gossip!
She pulled out her phone and hit the record button.
Meanwhile, Ashley was in shock after hearing Samantha's words.
Even though they had known each other for less than three months, the idea made Ashley feel a little warm inside!
Ashley was torn, but she tried to play it cool. "No way Ethan's jealous. He's just being macho, trying to save face."
Samantha smirked. "Ashley, stop kidding yourself. You like Ethan!"
Ashley looked down, her face calm but her heart racing. "We've only known each other for less than three months. How could I like him?"
Samantha clicked her tongue. "You're just lying to yourself."
Samantha knew her too well.
"Ashley, if you're worried about messing things up with Ethan, you should stop seeing Chris."
Ashley nodded. "That's what I plan to do."
"Oh, by the way, how do you feel about Chris now?"
Ashley sighed. "First love is hard to forget. I didn't expect him to do so much for me. I'm touched, but fate's played a cruel joke on us, and we can't go back."
She lowered her voice. "And I don't know if it's just me, but Chris seems different now. His vibe scares me."
"Really? Did something happen to him recently?"
Ashley nodded. "I've thought about that too. Samantha, can you have someone look into it? I think his change might be related to his parents."
"Sure, I'll get someone on it."
"Ashley, don't be stubborn. Go back and talk to Ethan. If there's a misunderstanding, clear it up fast. The longer it drags on, the worse it'll get."
Ashley realized Samantha was right. "Okay, I'll explain everything to him when I get back."
Ava quietly slipped away. 'Explain? I won't let you!'
She saved the recording.
She made a call, had someone tamper with the recording, then bought a new number under a fake name and sent a message to Ethan.
Ethan was about to check Ashley's parents' info when his phone buzzed.
Ethan saw an unfamiliar message and hesitated for a moment before opening it.
The recording played—
"Ashley, be honest, you like Ethan!"
"I don't like him."
"I'm curious; what are your feelings for Chris now?"
"First love is always hard to forget. I didn't expect him to do so much for me. Although I'm very touched, fate has played a trick on us, and we can't go back to the past..."
It sounded like she regretted not being with Chris!
Ethan's knuckles turned white as he gripped his phone. Veins bulged on his forehead, and a storm brewed in his eyes.
Hearing the question, "Do you like Ethan?" even though he knew the answer, he still felt a sharp pain in his heart.
Upon hearing Ashley still pining for her ex-boyfriend, he felt a mix of anger and jealousy.
"Damn woman, she actually loves another man!"
Ethan didn't mind if she didn't like him, but he did mind that she loved someone else!
In a fit of rage, Ethan knocked the laptop to the ground, his eyes stormy.
Diannel heard the commotion and rushed in. "Mr. Yates, what's wrong?"
Ethan smashed the newly repaired laptop again.
"Go check the identity of this number."
"Yes, Mr. Yates!"
"Wait."
Diannel was about to leave when Ethan called him back.
"Mr. Yates, what's wrong?"
Ethan hesitated for a moment. "I have a friend who married his wife shortly after they met, and their relationship is weak. What can he do to make his wife fall in love with him?"
Diannel raised an eyebrow, thinking, 'This friend must be Mr. Yates himself.'
Diannel said, "That's simple. He should be more romantic, give her the latest clothes, shoes, and bags, and send flowers every day to express his love. I believe your friend will soon win his wife's heart."
"You can go now."
Before leaving, Diannel added, "Mr. Yates, the most important thing is, when chasing a woman, you have to be shameless and bold!"
Ethan looked surprised. "Bold?"
"Exactly..."
Diannel gave him an ambiguous look. "You get it, right?"
Ethan's mouth twitched slightly, and he said coldly, "Get out."
Ethan rubbed his temples, feeling a headache at the thought of Ashley having feelings for another man.
A cunning thought suddenly crossed his mind.
What if he made Ashley fall in love with him first, and then he could properly punish her?
Ashley walked to the hospital room door, feeling anxious, and knocked.
"Ethan, it's me."
"Come in."
