Chapter 58 A Bad Woman Bullied Me
"Ethan, I heard you were looking for me. Miss me?"
Ava strutted into the room and plopped down on Ethan's bed, trying to be playful. But Ethan's icy stare stopped her cold.
That look could've turned her to ashes.
Ava froze, then straightened up.
"What's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?"
Ethan pulled out his phone, showed her a recent text from an unknown number, and tossed it aside. "Did you send this?"
Ava's eyes flickered. "Ethan, I have no idea what you're talking about..."
"You know I hate being lied to," Ethan said coldly. "For old times' sake, I'll give you one more chance."
He had proof. The person tailing Ashley had seen Ava too.
Ethan suspected she sent the message.
Ava's eyes welled up. "Ethan, don't blame me. I saw you with another woman, and it broke my heart..."
She paused, then continued, "This morning, I saw Ms. Wilson at a coffee shop with someone. I followed them and overheard their conversation. I wanted to send you the recording to show you the truth. She doesn't love you."
She emphasized, "She doesn't love you."
She watched Ethan's face, but he stayed calm, no anger at all.
"Ethan... she doesn't love you. Don't waste your time on her. I love you. I was wrong before. Can we start over?"
She reached for his hand.
Ethan dodged and said coldly, "I had Diannel book the earliest flight and arrange a car to take you home."
"Ethan, are you kicking me out?"
"You're my ex. People will talk if you stay around. And don't pull these childish stunts again. If you do, I won't be so lenient."
"Ethan, how can you be so heartless!"
Ava snapped, "What's so great about her? She doesn't love you!"
Ethan replied, "Even if she doesn't love me now, I'll make her fall for me!"
"I'm married, so please respect yourself."
"You!"
Ava's face turned red with anger.
"Fine, I'll leave!"
Ava stormed out and bumped into Ashley at the door.
She snorted and tried to shoulder her, but Ashley dodged at the last second.
Ava spat, "Don't get too cocky. I'll win him back!"
Ashley sneered, "We'll see."
Diannel stepped forward and escorted Ava away.
Seeing her leave, Ashley felt a weight lift off her shoulders.
"The patient can be discharged now."
"Okay."
Ashley returned to the room and raised an eyebrow. "You kicked her out. Won't you miss her later?"
A sly look flashed in Ethan's eyes. "Then I'll call her back to serve me personally."
He reached for his phone.
Ashley quickly snatched it, her face flushed. "Don't you dare!"
Her reaction amused Ethan.
It seemed she wasn't entirely indifferent to him.
"The doctor said you can be discharged."
"Alright, I'll change, and we'll go."
Ethan got up and changed while Ashley packed up.
Just as they finished, Ethan's phone rang.
"...Okay... we'll be right there."
"What's up?"
"Kelsey finalized the design drafts and is throwing a party. We're invited."
"Then let's go."
After completing the discharge procedures, they got into a luxury car and headed to the palace.
The White family.
As soon as Landon entered the house, Liam approached him. "Landon, did you get Ms. Wilson's number?"
Landon sighed. "No."
Liam looked disappointed. "That's a shame. I really wanted to meet her."
Just then, Landon's phone rang.
"It's Ava."
"Is Ava back from Ferndale?"
Landon answered and put it on speaker. "Hello."
"Landon, I'm on a flight back to Aivalia. I should be back by tomorrow."
Before Landon could respond, Liam jumped in.
"That's great! When you get back, we'll throw you a party and make you the brightest star in the world!"
"Liam, you're there too?"
"Yeah, make sure you cover up on the plane so you don't catch a cold."
"Thanks for the concern..." Ava's voice on the other end seemed to be holding back tears.
Landon and Liam exchanged glances.
"Ava, why are you crying? Did someone bully you? Tell us, and we'll handle it."
"A bad woman bullied me!" Ava said, "I had a boyfriend. We were together for three years, and our relationship was always stable. But a scheming woman got involved, claiming she was pregnant and forcing him to marry her. Every time I see my ex, it breaks my heart..."
