Chapter 204 Rivals in Love Meet

Michael felt groggy and barely noticed who was calling. He answered quickly and went back to bed.

James stepped out of the hospital room to take the call. "Hello."

"James, I'm at The Yates Mansion. These maids are ridiculous! They won't let me in. You need to tell them to let me through!"

James replied, "Ethan's quite pissed at you from last time, and he gave the order. Talk to him about it."

Ivy paused, then softened her tone. "James, I know I messed up. I'm here to apologize. Please come home so we can talk."

James sensed her intent and snorted, "Alright."

He quietly returned to the hospital room. Seeing Michael resting, he left without disturbing him.

At The Yates Mansion, Ivy paced at the entrance, growing more irritable by the minute. Finally, she lost her temper and yelled at the door, "You filthy bastards, do you know who I am? How dare you keep me waiting? When Ethan gets back, you'll be in trouble!"

Several maids blocked Ivy, with Thomas present. The maids, intimidated by Ivy, looked to Thomas.

Thomas sighed, "Mrs. Yates, you're Mr. Ethan's mother. Watch your language. Besides, it was you who—"

Ivy cut him off angrily, "Who are you to lecture me?"

Thomas was speechless. Arguing with her was pointless. He signaled the maids to guard the door.

Ivy continued, "I went through hell to bring Ethan into this world. Giving birth to Ethan nearly killed me. I deserve better treatment than this! You'll regret this if people find out how poorly you're treating me."

Thomas remembered the year when Ivy was pregnant. James was in love with his first girlfriend, but after a drunken affair with Ivy, she clung to him, even paying to make his girlfriend leave. Ivy married into the Yates family while pregnant. During her pregnancy, she ate and vomited a lot but didn't lose weight. Instead, she gained and became more arrogant.

"Ivy, how dare you make a scene at my doorstep?" James's voice interrupted her cursing.

Ivy's expression changed, but her smile froze when she saw the woman next to James. "James, why did you bring her here?" she asked coldly.

The woman was a middle-aged lady who resembled Ethan. Thomas was surprised. "Ms. Jones? You actually came back!"

Doris Jones smiled, "Thomas, long time no see." She looked at Ivy, and an unspoken tension filled the air.

In those few seconds of eye contact, it was like a silent battle.

"James, what's going on?" Ivy demanded.

James shrugged. "We met on the way, so I brought her back for a visit."

"Doris, Ivy, come in and have a seat."

Ivy sarcastically remarked, "Met on the way? Someone who's been gone for almost thirty years suddenly appears? Must have been planned."

Doris smiled. "Mrs. Yates, have you been watching too many TV dramas?"

Though smiling, their words were hostile.

Ivy's face turned stern, and just as she was about to retort, Doris said, "Mrs. Yates, I heard you say it was hard when you were pregnant. What exactly was so hard?"

"Were you imprisoned in a dark room, with no one to care for you as you were about to give birth? Or sabotaged during labor, barely escaping with your life?"

The atmosphere turned eerie. Ivy's heart skipped a beat, sensing something very wrong.
