Chapter 489 Ashley Wants to Meet Asclepius
"Miss, you look unwell. Are you alright?" the maid asked with concern.
Ashley's mind was flashing with fragments of memory. She seemed to glimpse someone familiar, but before she could identify who, the maid's voice broke her concentration. The memories vanished, and Ashley lost that spark of recognition, unable to recall anything more.
"I'm fine," Ashley said, shaking her head.
"Miss, the ointment you mixed works wonderfully. Let me apply it to your other injuries as well."
"Please do."
As the maid began treating her wounds, the doctor prepared to leave, but Ashley called after him, "Doctor, what's your name?"
"You can call me Alan."
"Alan, who is this Asclepius doctor you mentioned earlier?"
"He's a legendary figure in the medical community. He arrived at a laboratory in Gold Valley District a few days ago. I personally bought medicine from him. I never imagined something like this would happen... Thank goodness you only applied a small amount to your hand. If you had covered your entire body, the consequences would have been unthinkable."
"If this Asclepius is so brilliant, why did I have such a severe reaction to his medicine? Are you sure you have the right person?"
"I... I don't think I could be mistaken."
"Could you arrange a meeting with Asclepius? I'd like to speak with him directly."
Ashley wanted to meet Asclepius because the name had triggered something in her mind. She felt she might have known him before, and perhaps she had medical training herself—how else could she have formulated a new ointment from fragmented memories? She had many questions that only meeting the mysterious doctor might answer.
"Of course, I'll arrange it right away."
"Thank you, Alan."
"No need for thanks. It's my duty." With that, Alan departed.
At the laboratory, Yaakov was frantic about the missing medicine when Liam called, "Yaakov, I'm here to pick up my brother's order. Where are you?"
"You came personally? Well, we have a situation—the medicine is missing."
"What? How could it just disappear?"
"I'm reviewing security footage with the security team. Don't worry, we'll rush a new batch. It won't delay your sister-in-law's treatment."
Liam relaxed at this reassurance.
"Send me your location. I'll come to you."
"Will do."
Yaakov texted Liam the address.
As soon as his private jet landed, Liam headed straight for the laboratory.
In the security room, the team discovered that earlier that morning, Andrei, a janitor, had come to clean the lab and accidentally thrown the medicine away with the trash. The footage showed him taking the garbage bag to a dumpster, which was then collected by a garbage truck.
"Mr. Ford, we found the problem. This custodian mistook the medicine for trash."
"Damn it!" Yaakov fumed. "That was valuable medicine, and he treated it like garbage! How could your facility hire someone who makes such basic mistakes?"
"We could search the landfill if you need the medicine urgently, but with the amount of waste processed daily, it would be like finding a needle in a haystack."
Yaakov massaged his temples in frustration. "Never mind. Just make sure that janitor never enters my lab again. Follow proper protocols for disciplinary action!"
After these instructions, Yaakov returned to his lab to quickly prepare a new batch of the ointment.
Meanwhile, Liam had just arrived at the laboratory entrance when he encountered Alan anxiously waiting outside.
"Excuse me, do you work at this research facility?" Alan asked in the Ferndale language, which Liam both understood and spoke fluently.
"Can I help you?" Liam replied.
"I'm looking for Asclepius. I purchased wound healing ointment from him that caused severe problems—my patient's injuries became badly infected after application. I need an explanation!"
Liam looked puzzled. "Asclepius wouldn't make such a mistake. Are you sure you have the right person?"
"Absolutely. I was careful to remember his face. Look, I even took a photo," Alan insisted, showing Liam a picture of Andrei.
After examining it, Liam smiled. "I'm sorry, but this isn't Asclepius at all. It seems you've been deceived."
