Chapter 516 Telling the Truth After Drinking

Ashley hiccuped. "Nate, this juice tastes strange—almost like alcohol."

Ethan noticed it too, though the mild alcoholic content hardly affected him. He could down a full glass without feeling tipsy.

"Nate, did you accidentally mix the fruit wine instead of juice?" Ethan asked casually.

Caught off guard by how quickly his plan had been discovered, Nate froze, unsure how to respond.

Andy jumped in. "Nate, how could you be so careless? Mommy doesn't drink at all. Let's just get some sleep, Daddy."

Ethan nodded, turning to Ashley. "Pearl, are you okay?"

Ashley felt her vision blurring. She shook her head slightly. "I'm feeling a bit dizzy."

"Better lie down then."

Ethan helped Ashley to bed. Andy suggested, "Daddy, Nate can sleep on Mommy's left side, I'll sleep on her right, and you can sleep next to me. Is that okay?"

"Sure."

The four of them settled into bed, with Andy between Ethan and Ashley. Despite sharing one bed, they didn't feel crowded—just warm and content.

Ashley gazed lovingly at the children. "Goodnight, sweethearts." She planted a goodnight kiss on each of their foreheads.

"Goodnight, Mommy," they replied cheerfully, returning kisses to her forehead.

Ethan watched them from the side, a smile forming at the corners of his mouth, his eyes gleaming with happiness.

"Mommy, you haven't said goodnight to Daddy yet," Andy pointed out.

When Ashley and Ethan's eyes met, an almost palpable tenderness filled the air.

"Goodnight, Pearl."

"Goodnight, Ethan.""Goodnight, Ethan."

They spoke almost in unison, and Ashley's cheeks flushed pink.

Andy giggled. "Daddy, you haven't given Mommy her goodnight kiss."

Ethan smiled at Ashley's shy demeanor and leaned over to place a gentle kiss on her forehead.

Sandwiched between them, Andy covered his eyes, blushing.

Nate covered his mouth, suppressing laughter.

"Sleep well, Pearl," Ethan said.Ashley nodded.

Ethan teased, "You still owe me my goodnight kiss."

Feeling embarrassed in front of the children but seeing their expectant faces, Ashley reluctantly placed a kiss on Ethan's forehead. "There. Now go to sleep."

Satisfied, Ethan pulled back. "I'll turn off the lights now."

"Alright."

With the lights off, moonlight filtered through the window. Ethan half-embraced Andy, while Nate cuddled against Ashley. The four of them in one bed created a scene of warmth and intimacy.

Soon, Ethan and Ashley drifted off to sleep, but Nate and Andy simultaneously opened their eyes.

"Andy," Nate whispered.

Andy kept his voice low. "Don't talk. Let's go!"

Nate nodded. Grabbing a small blanket, the two quietly slipped out of the room and locked the door behind them.

"Andy, they noticed the fruit wine. Will our plan still work?" Nate asked worriedly.

"That wasn't ordinary fruit wine," Andy said with a mischievous smile. "Mommy can't handle alcohol at all. Maybe once she's tipsy, she and Daddy might..." He giggled. "We could have a little brother or sister by next year!"

"Awesome!" Nate exclaimed, then frowned. "Where are we sleeping tonight?"

"Guess we'll have to make do with the living room couch. Come on, let's leave Mommy and Daddy to bond."

"Okay!"

The two little conspirators headed to the living room sofa to sleep.

About two hours later, Ashley stirred in her sleep. She felt increasingly hot and dizzy. "Water..." she mumbled, shifting uncomfortably.

Ethan, a light sleeper, woke immediately. "Pearl, what's wrong?"

"Hot... need water..."

"I'll get you some right away."

Ethan got up and turned on the light, noticing with confusion, "Where did Andy and Nate go?"

He brought over a glass of water. "Here, Pearl. Drink this. I don't know where the kids went—I should go look for them."

Ashley sat up with Ethan's help and gulped down the water. When she opened her eyes, Ethan seemed to multiply before her—one, then two, three, four... so many Ethans.

"Do you need more water?"

Ashley reached out, trying to focus. "One Ethan, two Ethans, three Ethans... why are there so many of you? I can't keep count!"

Her innocent confusion made Ethan's heart race.

"Pearl, are you drunk?" Ethan realized. "That fruit wine must be stronger than I thought. I should get someone to make you some sobering soup."

As Ethan started to get up, Ashley suddenly wrapped her arms around his waist, burying her face against his chest. "I can barely handle loving one Ethan—what am I supposed to do with so many of you?"

Ethan froze, both surprised and delighted. "Pearl, what did you say?"

Too intoxicated to understand his question, Ashley continued, "Ethan, I like you. I like you so much."

Ethan's heart pounded. He gazed deeply into her eyes, his voice hoarse with emotion. "They say alcohol reveals the truth—I guess that's right!"

Ashley giggled, wrapped her arms around Ethan's neck, and leaned in for a kiss.
