Chapter 289 Paternity Confirmed
May was scratching her head, trying to make sense of Felicity's moves. She finally blurted out, "Only Felicity herself might know why she's doing this."
Ashley jumped in, "Which slammer is she in now?"
May answered, "She's still at the police station, getting grilled. Ashley, what's the game plan?"
She added, "Pauline's been hanging around the station a lot and getting chummy with Ryan. Maybe we could..."
Ashley's eyes lit up. "Set it up fast. We gotta get to the bottom of this ASAP. And don't forget, leave some evidence behind!"
"Got it!" May continued, "Ashley, here's the paternity test for Ivy and Ethan, plus a bunch of shady stuff Ivy did overseas, and the midwife's testimony from when Ivy had her baby. And this one's the paternity test for Doris and Ethan."
Ashley flipped through the reports, landing on the last page.
Ethan and Doris, paternity confirmed!
Ashley felt a wave of happiness for Ethan, finally finding his real mom.
Ashley said, "May, you're a lifesaver."
May replied, "No need to thank me. I love digging up dirt. That snake Ivy is still acting all innocent, clueless that we've got her nailed!"
Thinking about all the crap Ivy put Ethan through, Ashley felt a burning hatred. With all this evidence, as long as she could figure out Felicity's angle, there'd be no way Ivy could wriggle out of this!
"I'm heading to the station to check things out," May said.
"Alright!"
After May left, Ashley stayed in the hospital room, going over the documents.
Liam went to the window to grab a report, but the doc handed him two.
Liam was confused and saw the names, it was Liam and Ethan in big letters. Thinking it was Ethan's report, he decided to keep it for him.
He checked his own report first.
The report showed Liam and Ashley weren't related by blood.
Seeing the result, Liam almost hit the floor.
His face went ghostly white!
How could this be? Liam always thought Ashley was his real sister. He never expected the DNA to say otherwise again!
Liam felt a sharp pain in his chest, making it hard to breathe. He messed up his hair in frustration, looking totally wrecked!
They say three strikes and you're out, but after three DNA tests, all saying no blood ties, it meant they really weren't related!
But even with the cold, hard facts staring him in the face, Liam just couldn't shake the feeling that Ashley was his sister. That bond felt too real to be fake!
Liam curled up in a corner, losing it for a while, pacing the hallway like a madman, even banging his head against the wall.
After what felt like forever, he finally calmed down.
Staring at the report in his hand, he made a decision and ripped it to shreds.
Liam muttered, "Screw this report. Ashley's my sister, and that's it. I don't care what this paper says!"
"No one else knows anyway. From now on, Ashley is my sister, and as her brother, I'll protect her!"
With his mind made up, Liam made a call. "I heard you can forge documents. Do me a solid, and we can talk price."
Half an hour later...
Someone handed Liam a freshly made paternity report. Liam opened it, and the last page showed Liam and Ashley's biological relationship confirmed!
Liam grinned. "Looks legit. I've sent the money. Keep this on the down-low, not a word to anyone!"
"Don't worry!" The guy took the cash and bounced.
Liam turned and headed back to the hospital room.
Ashley was munching on an apple. Seeing Liam come in, she sighed in relief. "Liam, you were gone forever. I thought you bailed."
Liam smiled and handed her the report.
Ashley glanced at the report, missing the brief guilt in his eyes.
"Is this our paternity report?" she asked.
Liam nodded, "Yep, open it up."
Ashley nervously took the report, carefully flipping to the last page. When she saw the result, she jumped up and hugged Liam.
Tears streamed down her face, "We really are siblings. I've finally found my family. This is amazing! Liam, you're really my brother!"
"Silly girl, why the tears?" Liam felt a pang of heartache and gently wiped her tears. "Now, will you come with me to meet our parents?"
Ashley nodded eagerly.
Liam sighed, "You got lost when you were little. Our parents were devastated looking for you. One went mad, and the other went blind. When you see them, don't be freaked out."
Ashley frowned and quickly said, "Liam, how could I be freaked out by them? What do you take me for?"
"I was just messing with you. Once your stuff is sorted, I'll take you to meet them!" Liam smiled.
"Okay."
As they chatted, Ashley noticed another report in Liam's hand and asked, "Liam, what's that?"
Liam suddenly remembered. "Oh, right. The doc handed this to me out of nowhere. I saw Ethan's name on it, so I brought it back."
Ashley looked at the big letters on the report: [Paternity Test Report]
