Chapter 307 Talk with Mia

The White family

Ashley dragged herself home, feeling like the world was ending.

She locked herself in her room and bawled her eyes out until she heard Mia's voice outside. She quickly wiped her tears and opened the door.

"Hayes, why've you been holed up in your room all day? Something up?" Mia asked, clearly worried.

Mia had no clue what was going on. It was Liam who had tipped her off to spend more time with Ashley.

So, she knew something was definitely up.

"Mom." Ashley forced a smile that looked more like a grimace, "I'm fine."

Mia said, "Young folks shouldn't be cooped up at home all day. If you're feeling down, go travel or hang out with friends. It's way better than moping around alone."

"Mom, I know." Ashley grabbed Mia's hand and said, "Mom, let's go to your room. I'll whip up a special herbal bath for you, okay?"

Mia replied, "Sure thing."

They headed to Mia's room. Ashley got the water ready and wrapped the special herbs in gauze, tossing them in. Soon, the water changed color and the room filled with a soothing herbal scent.

"Mom, for the next two weeks, soak in this herbal bath for an hour every night and then do two hours of acupuncture. I bet you'll feel a lot better soon." Ashley said.

"Okay, I'll do as you say." Mia smiled.

Ashley led Mia to the tub, "Mom, the floor's slippery. Watch your step."

"Alright."

Ashley helped Mia undress and get into the tub. Mia said, "Hayes, there's nothing more to do here. I'll call the maid in a bit. If you have stuff to do, go ahead."

Ashley said, "Mom, I'll stay with you."

Mia said, "I'm afraid you'll get bored staying with me 'cause I don't talk much!"

Ashley smiled, "No way!"

Ashley grabbed a towel and poured warm water over Mia's back, helping her wash. Suddenly, she noticed a red mole on Mia's collarbone.

Ashley thought of the red mole on her own collarbone and said, "Mom, you have a mole here too?"

Ashley pointed to Mia's collarbone.

Mia said, "This is a family thing. Every generation has it. Not just here, but there's also a red birthmark behind the ear."

Ashley looked behind Mia's ear, "Mom, you don't have one?"

Mia laughed, "I don't have it 'cause it moved from my ear to yours! Your older brothers have the same birthmark behind their ears."

Ashley was amazed, "That's wild!"

Mia said, "Of course. When you have kids in the future, they'll definitely have a red birthmark behind their ears too!"

Hearing this, Ashley's mood, which had just lifted, crashed again.

Ashley murmured, "Mom, I'm infertile. I can't have kids."

Mia was shocked, "How could this be? But modern medicine is super advanced. It can be treated, right?"

Ashley gave a bitter smile, "I'm undergoing treatment, but..."

Ashley's eyes dimmed, "Mom, he has a child with someone else."

"Who?" Mia was shocked.

Ashley felt a sharp pain in her heart, "Ethan, my husband. He unknowingly had a relationship with another woman, and she secretly had his child. Mom, what should I do? I know it's not Ethan's fault. It doesn't count as cheating, but whenever I think about him having a child with another woman, I feel so sad, hurt, and inferior! I can't have children and feel unworthy of him. Mom, I don't know what to do!"

Ashley couldn't hold back and cried in Mia's arms.

Mia held Ashley and patted her back, "Hayes, sweetie, don't cry."

Although Ashley and Mia had only been together for less than a day, it seemed like they understood each other.

Mia said, "Hayes is the best girl in the world. You shouldn't feel inferior just because you can't have children for now."

She continued, "I heard from Liam that you and your husband have a great relationship. You're always together, so he must be a good man. He didn't know someone secretly had his child. If he knew, wouldn't he also feel devastated and afraid of you getting hurt? Hayes, don't you think so?"

That made sense!

With Mia's comforting words, Ashley gradually calmed down.

Ashley said, "Mom, you're right. I can't make decisions on my own. I'll wait for Ethan to come back and let him handle it!"

Mia said, "Yes, don't be sad. Crying yourself out wouldn't make things better."

Ashley smiled through her tears.

Sometimes, when people get stuck on something, having someone to talk to can help them get through it easily.

Ashley felt much better and decided to leave the matter to Ethan.

After helping Mia, Ashley returned to her room.

Just then, her phone rang.

It was Ethan calling.

"Honey," Ethan's voice was cautious, "Are you still busy?"

Ashley smiled slightly and said, "Honey, I miss you."
