Chapter 294 Mother-in-law and Daughter-in-law Battle?
The Next Day
Ashley was chillin' in front of the mirror, checking herself out.
Outta nowhere, the door swung open, and Pauline popped in, "Ashley, the reporters are all here. Ready to roll?"
Ashley gave a nod, "Yep, let's do this!"
They strutted to the stage, one after the other. The room exploded with camera flashes and clicks. Ashley took the center seat, cool as a cucumber.
"Hey everyone, I'm Ashley," she started. "Got some big news for you, and it's about my husband, Ethan."
Meanwhile, Ivy was about to post something on Facebook when she caught Ashley's live press conference. She jumped outta bed, "Wait, Ashley? Wasn't she in a coma? How's she up and holding a press conference?"
Ivy's mind raced, 'Is she gonna expose me?'
Just as she thought that, Ashley's voice boomed from the video, "I wanna call out Ms. Ivy Xavier in front of the media!"
"Ivy? Isn't she Ethan's mom?" a reporter asked.
"Is this gonna be a mother-in-law vs. daughter-in-law showdown?" another one chimed in.
Watching the live stream, Ivy's face twisted in anger, "Damn, she's gonna spill the beans. Not on my watch!"
Ivy bolted to her car and sped to the press conference!
Ashley continued, "Ivy isn't Ethan's real mom!"
The crowd went nuts!
A bystander shouted, "Whoa, this is huge! And it's coming from Ethan's wife. This showdown's gonna be epic!"
A reporter asked, "Mrs. Yates, got any proof?"
Ashley smirked, "Oh, you bet!"
She whipped out a document, "Here's the DNA report for Ivy and Ethan. Check it out!"
The crowd gasped. Wasn't Ashley worried this would mess up the Yates Group or Ethan?
Another reporter asked, "So, you're here to reveal they're not related by blood?"
Ashley grinned, "That's just the tip of the iceberg. There's more!"
She had copies of the evidence ready, and her staff handed them out to the reporters.
"Secondly, Ms. Xavier has a criminal record for drug trafficking in Maridia, and in Aivalia, she kept up her shady business by lending money at crazy high interest rates!" Ashley said. "Thirdly, Ms. Xavier has swiped billions from the Yates family over the past thirty years!"
"And fourth!" Ashley stood up, fuming, "I reported to the cops this morning that Ms. Xavier has a history of child abuse. Her violent actions have left my husband with lasting psychological scars. These crimes are enough to lock her up forever!"
Everyone was floored by Ashley's laundry list of accusations.
Any one of these crimes would mean over ten years in Aivalia. Put together, Ivy was looking at life behind bars!
The reporters were stunned by the evidence in their hands!
Suddenly—
Ivy stormed in, fuming, "Shut up!"
Ashley stared her down, cool and collected, like a wolf eyeing its frantic prey. Even though Ivy was clearly guilty and scared, she held her head high, "Don't listen to this crap! The evidence is all fake!"
The reporters exchanged confused glances.
Ashley sneered, "The cops will sort it out!"
Right then, Ryan showed up with a bunch of police officers, "Ms. Xavier, you're under suspicion of breaking the law. Come with us!"
"Back off!" Ivy snapped, "Anyone touches me, and I'll cut her!"
She lunged at Ashley, pressing a knife to her neck, drawing blood.
Ashley stayed calm, like it was no big deal.
"Ivy, it's over. Why keep denying it?" Ashley asked.
Suddenly, Ethan appeared, his eyes cold and deadly, like he wanted to end Ivy right there.
"I'll give you one chance, let her go," Ethan said icily.
Ivy screamed, "Ethan, you jerk! You believe her lies over me?"
Ethan sneered, "Lies?"
He tossed the evidence in front of Ivy, "Every dirty thing you've done is right here. Your denial means nothing. The cops confirmed it all this morning!"
"No way, that's impossible!" Ivy's face went pale. She never thought Ashley would be her downfall!
Ivy's face twisted with hatred.
Just as Ivy was at a loss, someone walked into the room, "Ms. Xavier, you're wrong!"
