Chapter 303 Temporary Stay with the White Family
Samantha rolled up to the pharmacy, handed over the script, and soon had a big ol' bag of meds. Her hands were full, juggling all those bags, while Landon just chilled in the car, not even pretending to help.
She grumbled under her breath, tossed the meds in the back seat, and plopped down in the passenger seat. "Got the meds, let's bounce."
Landon fired up the engine and casually tossed a card her way.
Samantha blinked at the hotel key card in her hand.
Landon's voice was low and serious, "Hotel. Be there tonight."
Samantha's cheeks went bright red.
Ever since that mess with the Yates family, they'd been hooking up. Whenever he wanted, he’d come to her.
She mumbled, "Could I refuse..." She wanted to ask if she could refuse his invitation.
But then she caught Landon's icy stare and swallowed her words.
This guy, all cool and distant when dressed, turned into a whole different beast when the clothes came off.
Samantha thought about it again, feeling both freaked out and embarrassed 'cause he was so wild in bed!
She sighed, "Fine, but remember, you can't tell Ashley or anyone else about us."
Landon just grunted, started the car, and headed to the White family’s place.The White Family
After two hours of therapy, Ashley was sweating bullets. Liam, watching her work those needles like a pro, felt even more confident.
Liam rushed over to wipe her sweat.
Ashley was shaking out her wrist when Landon and Samantha walked in.
Landon asked, "All done?"
Ashley nodded, "Yep, first session's done!"
"Mom, open your eyes and try to see," she said to Mia.
Mia opened her eyes. A flash of light hit her, but then it was back to darkness.
Ashley asked, "How's it feel now?"
Mia shook her head.
She still couldn't see, but her eyes felt a lot lighter after the therapy.
Landon and Liam both looked a bit bummed.
Ashley said, "Mom, you've been blind for years. You can't fix it in just one or two sessions. You need a mix of therapy and meds for at least a couple of weeks to see any real change."
Liam smiled, "Exactly, no way Mom's condition gets cured in one go!"
Mia had been blind for over twenty years. She'd tried to find a cornea for surgery before, but since there wasn't a match, she’d given up, thinking it was whatever.
Now that Hayes had a plan, Mia was all in to get her vision back and finally see her daughter's face clearly.
Mia said, "Hayes, I'm not in a rush. Is Ethan cool with you staying with us for a while?"
The mention of Ethan made Ashley tense up.
Liam smacked his forehead, "Oh yeah, Ethan called earlier. Said he's off on a business trip for half a month. You were busy with therapy, so I took the call."
Ethan gone for half a month?
Ashley felt a pang of sadness, but she still hadn't sorted out the whole deal with Ethan's illegitimate kid and wasn't ready to face him.
Maybe him being away and her staying with the White family was the best move for now.
Holding back her heartache, Ashley hugged Mia and joked, "Guess I'll crash here for half a month. You won't kick me out, right?"
"Of course not, I'd love it!" Mia was thrilled.
John, who was dozing off nearby, woke up. Ashley said, "Mom and Dad must be tired. Let me help you to bed."
"Alright," John agreed.
Liam helped too, guiding them back to their room.
The medical gear was still scattered on the table. Samantha, being all efficient, helped Ashley tidy up, while Landon just stood there, watching.
Out of nowhere, Bolt came running in from the yard, meowing.
Landon called, "Bolt, come here."
Bolt wagged its tail, strutted over to Landon, jumped up, and started rubbing against him.
Ashley and Liam came back down and saw Landon with a white cat. Ashley exclaimed, "Landon, you got a cat?"
Liam said, "His name's Bolt. Someone dumped him at our doorstep, so Landon took him in."
Ashley squatted down and gently petted Bolt's head.
Bolt was super chill, purring and melting into her touch.
Samantha joined in, "It's so cute. Can I pet it?"
Landon gave a nod.
Samantha carefully petted Bolt. Bolt rolled over, showing its belly, making Samantha laugh. She petted its belly again.
Bolt hugged Samantha, tail wagging, licking her hand, clearly loving her.
Ashley and Samantha exchanged smiles and said together, "It's so cute!"
None of them noticed the small bump inside Bolt that occasionally flashed red.
Meanwhile, Felicity was back at her secret base, watching the White family through surveillance. Her face was calm until she saw Ashley and Samantha, then her eyes filled with obsessive fury.
