Chapter 155 Ashley is the Most Suitable Choice

Landon shot Liam a warning look, but Liam ignored it, pushed him aside, and helped John sit down.

"Dad, calm down. Once she's better, I'll bring her to see you."

John, upset, said, "Who hurt my daughter? I'll make them pay!"

"Dad, they're already in prison. Just relax and lie down."

John sighed but soon got up again. "Take me to her now. Is she badly hurt? I've always been so careful with her. Landon, take me to her. I need to care for her."

John called Liam "Landon," making both brothers exchange a pained look.

"Dad, you'll scare her. Once she's healed, I'll bring her to see you. Please, just rest."

Reluctantly, John let Liam help him back to bed.

"Dad, listen to the doctor and take your meds. Once you're better, she'll be better too, and I'll take you to see her."

A hopeful glint appeared in John's eyes. "Good, that's great!"

Landon and Liam left the room. Landon scolded, "Liam, why did you promise to bring Ashley to see him?"

"Landon, Dad's mentally ill. Why take him seriously? Once Ashley's better, I'll ask her to help. Dad's old; we need to fulfill his biggest regret."

"You want to deceive Dad?"

"We've searched for years and found Ashley, but the DNA test says we're not related. We have no better choice. Ashley looks just like Mom!"

"She's the best choice."

Landon wanted to argue, but Liam cut him off. "The doctor said Dad has six months to live. You can't let him die with regrets, can you?"

Landon felt a sharp pain in his heart. He looked at the sleeping John through the window, his emotions a mess.

"Liam, we were sent abroad young, drifting for years with no family..."

Landon clenched his fist, sorrow in his eyes.

"When our sister went missing, we dropped everything to help search for her."

"We saw our parents suffer—one went blind, the other lost their mind. The chaos was unbearable. I envied and hated our sister. She took all our parents' love. I was glad the kidnappers took her, thinking we'd get all the love."

"But it didn't happen. Seeing them sad hurts too. My feelings for her are mixed."

Landon looked at Liam, tears in his eyes. "We're their children too. Why do they only care about our missing sister and not us?"

"If it had been you or me who went missing, would Mom and Dad be this heartbroken?"

Liam had no answer.

No matter how old you are, you always crave your parents' love.

When John called him "Landon," it hurt, even though he knew it was just his illness.

Liam looked at John through the window, his voice hoarse. "Landon, we're men. We can't be so sentimental. What's done is done. Our sister's the one missing. We need to make sure they have no regrets."

"Landon, I'm going to Ashley's hospital to see if she'll help us."
