Chapter 93 The Revelations Behind the Scenes
An hour later...
The hospital room door swung open, and Ethan stepped out, his face livid. He shot a cold look at Landon and Ava.
"What do you want?"
Ava spoke up, "Ethan, I need to talk to you."
Landon, holding a bouquet, added, "I'm here to see Mrs. Yates."
Ethan sneered. He wouldn't let Ava near Ashley, but since Landon was Ashley's brother, he felt more at ease.
"Ava, I need a word with you. Come here."
Ethan turned and walked away, with Ava following closely. Landon entered the hospital room.
In the hallway...
Ethan cut to the chase. "Ava, do you want to come clean that you're not actually Ms. White, or should I make you?"
Ava was stunned, her heart racing, but she tried to stay calm.
"Ethan, I don't know what you're talking about..." She moved closer, trying to hug him, looking hurt. "You're my man; how could you do this to another woman? Ethan, kiss me, please?"
The more she spoke, the more agitated she got. She cupped his face, trying to kiss him.
Ethan turned his head and pushed her away.
"Ethan?"
He looked at her coldly. "Do you know why I agreed to marry Ms. White at the press conference?"
When Ava saw the news, she was secretly thrilled. She thought Ethan had feelings for her, which was why he agreed!
But his coldness confused her.
"Why?" she asked.
Ethan smirked. "Because I suspected your true identity!"
"I guessed you had taken my wife's place, so I made that statement in front of the media!"
From the start, Ethan only ever intended to marry Ashley.
Ava's expression didn't change. "Ethan, what nonsense are you talking about... Those are just your wild guesses. How could I be an imposter? I've done a DNA test with the White family. You can't be so biased towards that bitch!"
Hearing the word 'bitch,' Ethan frowned.
"Watch your mouth. If you disrespect my wife again, I'll sue you!"
"And if I didn't have solid evidence, why would I say these things?"
Ava's heart skipped a beat. Did he really have evidence? A genuine DNA report?
"Ethan, do you have no feelings for me at all?"
"I do!"
Ava's eyes lit up with hope.
"I knew it. We've been together for so many years; how could you just forget..."
As she spoke, Ava hugged Ethan.
Ethan pushed her away, grabbed her shoulders, and looked her dead in the eyes. "The only feeling I have for you is gratitude. Ava, you once saved my life, so I'm giving you a chance to make things right. You have two choices: either you come clean, or I will."
Ava stood there, stunned, her eyes wide with shock.
"You know, when I take action, I'm ruthless."
Ava took a couple of steps back, tears welling up. "Ethan, how can you be so heartless?"
Her emotions were a tangled mess. She had stolen Ashley's credit and position, and now she had to give it all back before she could even enjoy it!
Ava's nails dug into her palms, her hatred surging. She vowed to herself that she wouldn't give everything up so easily.
But faced with Ethan's powerful presence, she didn't dare confront him head-on.
"Have you made up your mind, hmm?"
"Ethan, don't make it public. Let me handle it, okay?"
Ava pleaded.
Ethan stared deeply at her. "Fine, this is your last chance. If you disappoint me again, I'll show you the consequence."
Ethan gave her the chance only because she had once saved his life.
However, he didn't know that she wasn't the girl who saved him at all!
"Ethan, thank you. I won't let you down."
Ethan nodded. "Alright, and you also need to clear up the false accusation that I ruined your reputation."
Ava lowered her head and nodded, looking obedient, but her bangs hid the evil glint in her eyes.
"Okay."
"Alright, I need to go back and take care of my wife. Do as you please."
With that, he turned and left.
Ava watched his back, her eyes filled with hatred.
Her eyes flashed as she dialed a number. "Auntie, where are you? I bought a gift and want to give it to you now."
On the other end of the line, Ivy Yates said, "Ava, I'm at the Yates family estate. Michael is here too; you should come see him."
Ava curled her lips into a wicked smile. "Alright, I'll be there soon."
She hung up the phone and, without waiting for Landon to come out, took a cab to the Yates family estate.
In the hospital room...
Ashley felt extremely embarrassed because of what had happened.
Today was the first time Landon had interacted with Ashley face-to-face.
He had intended to assert his dominance as soon as he walked in, but when he saw Ashley's face, he was shocked!
She looked exactly like his mother!
Suppressing his strange emotions, Landon said, "Ms. Wilson, hello, I'm Ava's older brother, Landon."
"Hello, I'm Ashley."
They shook hands.
For some reason, despite it being their first meeting, they both felt a strong sense of familiarity.
