Chapter 90 The Friendship Between Women and Men
Ethan shot back, leaving Nathan speechless.
Nathan sighed, "Maybe... she just can't stand me!"
"Oh, why do you think that?"
Normally, Ethan wouldn't care, but since their wives were best friends, he figured he'd offer some advice for Ashley's sake.
Nathan chuckled bitterly. "This is a family matter, but I feel like we could get along. Are you interested in hearing me out?"
Ethan nodded. "No need to be formal. Our wives are close, so we can be friends too. If you want to talk, I'm here to listen."
Nathan was a bit taken aback. "It's an honor to be friends with Mr. Yates."
Ethan laughed. "That honor comes from your wife. Treat her well when you get back..."
Nathan never thought he'd make a friend because of Sienna, but he was grateful. He'd always admired Ethan and wanted to talk to him. Unexpectedly, they hit it off right away.
Ethan patted his shoulder. "Nathan, let's find a place to sit and chat."
"Yeah, there's a café near the hospital. Let's go there."
"Alright, let's give them a heads-up so they don't worry."
They glanced back at the hospital room door.
With Sienna's help, Ashley was slowly coming out of her sadness, smiling more often.
She whispered something to Sienna, making her blush and tickle Ashley. The two women rolled on the bed, laughing.
"Haha, it tickles... Sienna, stop!"
"Who told you to say that? Say it again, and I won't be so nice..."
"Please, I was wrong..."
The scene was warm and sweet.
Seeing this, the two men exchanged smiles.
Ethan gently closed the door. "Looks like they have a lot to talk about. Let's go."
"Okay."
As they left, the women inside realized what had happened.
Sienna worriedly said, "Your husband was at the door. Did he hear us?"
Ashley said, "Probably not. It'd be so embarrassing if he did!"
Sienna sighed in relief, then mischievously smiled. "After you try my little secret, you and your husband will probably..."
Ashley blushed and covered her mouth. "Stop it! Let's talk about you. You were about to divorce your husband, but you ended up sleeping with him. I bet you won't get divorced. Tell me, how did he treat you last night?"
"And, even though you're over three months pregnant, you still need to be gentle and not overwork."
With Sienna's guidance, Ashley gradually came to terms with things.
One shouldn't always dwell in sadness but should move on to face a new life, a new beginning...
Sienna blushed and whispered in Ashley's ear.
After hearing it, Ashley's face turned bright red.
"You guys are shameless."
"I've been with him for so many years; it's called experienced..."
Sienna mischievously laughed. "Why don't you try it with your husband tonight..."
"Ugh, shut up, you! You little minx!"
The two women rolled on the bed again, laughing heartily...
At the café, the two men found a seat by the window.
They ordered two cups of coffee. Nathan said, "Ethan, can I call you that?"
Ethan nodded. "Of course, Nathan."
Nathan's thoughts drifted. "I met Sienna in high school. It was love at first sight for me. Once I was sure of my feelings, I started pursuing her..."
"Back then, she was a top student, the perfect daughter in her parents' eyes, while I was a rebellious teenager, always causing trouble at home!"
Ethan said, "A rebellious kid and a top student... that's quite a combo!"
"I pursued Sienna from high school for six years. To be with her, I turned over a new leaf, forced myself to study hard, and became a top student, a well-behaved son, and a business celebrity, all to match her. But I knew very well that Sienna didn't like me..."
"Why are you so sure?"
She didn't like him, yet she married him and had two children.
At this point, Nathan's eyes were full of pain, his Adam's apple moving as he swallowed his sorrow.
"She had a crush, and everyone in the school knew it!"
So that's how it was.
Ethan said, "So what if she liked someone else? She's yours now, legally your spouse. Even if you can't have her heart, you have her. In the end, you're still the winner."
Nathan smiled bitterly, "Our marriage was just an accident..."
Ethan was surprised, "An accident?"
