Chapter 315 Redoing the Paternity Test
Mia knew Ashley had trouble with infertility, but her strong reaction to eating beef made it seem like she might be pregnant.
Mia, worried, said, "Hayes, why don't you go to the hospital for a check-up?"
Ashley thought Mia was overreacting. She had asked Ella in prison, and Ella had said that after drinking the contraceptive soup, she would never be able to get pregnant. So, Ashley believed she must have caught a cold.
To reassure Mia, Ashley pretended to agree, "Mom, don't worry. You forgot that I know medicine. If I were pregnant, I would definitely be able to tell."
Mia thought for a moment and said, "You're right. After dinner, remember to check yourself."
Ashley responded and helped Mia, saying, "Mom, let me help you to the dining room."
Ashley helped her to the dining room, but looking at the food on the plate, she had no appetite. At that moment, the phone rang, it was an unknown number.
Ashley hesitated for a moment and answered, "Hello."
"Hello, is this Mrs. Yates? I'm Nick. Mr. Yates asked me to personally deliver something important to you."
Ashley had called Ethan at noon, and a few hours later, he had someone fly over to deliver the item, "Where are you now?"
"Mrs. Yates, I'm at the White Mansion's gate," Nick said.
"I'll be right there."
Ashley had no appetite for dinner, so she said, "Mom, I need to go to the hospital and will be back soon."
Mia thought she was going to the hospital for a check-up and said, "Alright, you can have a thorough check-up at the hospital."
Ashley responded and put on her coat to leave.
Nick was waiting outside. When he saw Ashley coming, he handed over a document bag, "Mrs. Yates, this is what Mr. Yates asked me to bring you."
Ashley opened the document bag, which contained fresh blood and hair follicles.
Ashley asked, "Nick, do you have anything else to do later?"
Nick replied, "Mrs. Yates, just let me know if you need anything."
"Take me somewhere!" With that, Ashley got into the car.
Nick drove to the neighborhood where Yara lived. Ashley, familiar with the place, found Yara's home and knocked on the door.
Nora opened the door and, seeing Ashley, smiled brightly, "Ashley, come in and have a seat!"
Nora warmly welcomed Ashley.
Ashley squinted slightly, looking at the little girl in front of her. She felt that Nora looked very familiar but couldn't immediately recall who she resembled.
However, when Ashley thought that Nora might be Ethan's child, her expression turned sour.
Seeing Ashley's cold face, Nora timidly said, "Ashley, why do you look unhappy? Do you dislike Nora?"
Nora looked aggrieved.
Ashley tugged at the corners of her mouth and sighed helplessly.
The issues between adults shouldn't affect the children. How could Nora be blamed for this?
Ashley softened, adjusted her attitude, and patted Nora's head, "No, I like you very much."
Hearing this, Nora blinked in disbelief and said, "Ashley, I like you too. Come in and sit down."
Yara came out of the kitchen, surprised to see Ashley, and with a hint of guilt, said, "Mrs. Yates, please come in and have a seat."
Ashley coldly said, "No need. I'm here to take Nora to the hospital to redo the paternity test with Ethan!"
A complex emotion flashed across Yara's face. After a moment, she said, "Alright, I'll take Nora to the hospital with you."
She took off her apron, held Nora's hand, and followed Ashley out, looking worried.
Nick, though silent, noted everything happening. He drove the three of them to the hospital and, while they were having their blood drawn, informed Ethan of the situation.
Ethan was shocked upon hearing the news, "What? Nora is my child?"
Nick said, "Mr. Yates, that's all I know for now. It seems they are doing a second test."
Ethan squinted, "Stay in Aurora for now. I'll leave this matter to you."
"Yes, sir!" Nick hung up the phone and turned around, bumping into someone.
The person angrily said, "Are you blind? Watch where you're going!"
Nick was speechless but didn't argue since he had to wait for Ashley.
Lucas came to the hospital for a check-up and suddenly saw Ashley in the blood draw room. He squinted, "Why is Ashley here? Who is that woman next to her, and who is that little girl?"
Lucas felt something was off and secretly took a photo from a corner.
He had come for a check-up but now felt something wrong. He quickly took a cab to the prison and showed the photo to Ivy, "I saw that bitch Ashley at the hospital today. She had a girl and a woman with her. Are they the ones you mentioned?"
Ivy looked at the photo and said, "Dad, it's them!"
"Why are they drawing blood at the hospital again? Could it be..." Ivy's face changed, "Did Ashley find out something? Are they redoing the paternity test?"
