Chapter 23 He Apologized
The staff came over and shooed Kira away. Meanwhile, Ethan stepped up, wrapped his arm around Ashley's waist, and said, "Let's go check out some wedding rings."
Ashley raised an eyebrow. "Why aren't you surprised? Didn't I look fierce and scary just now?"
Ethan smirked. "I thought it was kinda cute."
Mr. Yates clearly had a different definition of "cute."
Kira, still protesting as she was led away, shouted, "Mr. Yates, don't be fooled by that witch Ashley. She doesn't care about you. She loves another man, her first love..."
Ashley stiffened. The mention of her past love hit her like a punch to the gut, making her feel like her heart was being ripped apart. Her face went pale.
Ethan noticed her change. His eyes darkened for a moment.
He said coldly, "Oh, really? Then tell him it doesn't matter because she sleeps in my bed every night."
Ashley facepalmed. 'What is he talking about?'
Everyone around them was stunned, jaws practically on the floor.
Ethan tightened his grip on her waist, a hint of coldness and jealousy in his eyes, and quickened his pace toward the VIP room.
Ashley winced. "Ethan, you're hurting me."
She had a feeling Ethan was angry; his grip was strong, and his steps were fast.
Ethan whispered in her ear, "I'm warning you, don't have any contact with your ex. If the media catches wind, you'll be in trouble."
Ashley shot back, "Who doesn't have an ex? I've already cut ties with him. And don't you have an ex too?"
Ethan paused, thinking of Ava, and felt an odd calm.
"Yes," he said indifferently.
Hearing he had an ex too, Ashley felt a subtle sadness she didn't quite understand.
"Can you guarantee you'll cut ties with your ex? I can! When you demand something from others, you should set an example yourself!"
"Don't push your luck."
Ethan lifted Ashley's chin, his eyes half-closed, gaze falling on her lips.
Ashley raised an eyebrow. "What can you do to me?"
Ethan smirked wickedly, leaned in, and kissed her deeply...
The manager and sales assistant brought the best diamond wedding rings into the VIP room, only to find the couple in a passionate kiss. The unexpected display of affection made them so excited they didn't notice the noise they made.
Ashley pushed Ethan away, her face flushed, while Ethan shot a cold glance at the staff. Their timing was impeccable, always ruining the moment.
Ethan whispered in Ashley's ear, "Next time you act up, I'll kiss you until you can't take it, got it?"
Ashley blushed, unable to retort.
Though he spoke softly, the VIP room was quiet, and the staff heard it too.
Who would've thought the usually aloof Ethan could be so charming when he spoke sweetly?
"Mr. Yates, Mrs. Yates, we've brought the largest carat ring in our store. Take your pick."
"Okay."
"Let her choose, as long as she's happy."
Ethan sat on the sofa and pulled out his phone to review today's work.
Ashley stepped forward and began seriously choosing the wedding ring.
Kira, fuming outside the jewelry store, grew angrier by the minute.
She called James and got the number of Ashley's first love. Back when she was brought back by the Wilson family, there was a man with her, her first love. Because he was poor, her dad forbade them from being together.
It was time to bring him back!
An hour later.
Ashley had chosen the wedding ring. "This one."
"Ms. Wilson, you have a great eye. This ring is a limited edition by designer Elisa, and it's the only one in the country. However, the price is quite high."
Ethan heard this and said, "Do you think I can't afford it?"
"Mr. Yates, you misunderstand. It's just that Elisa's ring is worth $10 million, and most people would hesitate before making such a purchase."
A pair of rings for $10 million?
Ethan couldn't help but stand up and seriously examine the wedding ring. What kind of design could be worth $10 million?
And just as Ethan was seriously examining it, Ashley raised an eyebrow because she was all too familiar with this wedding ring.
