Chapter 114 Revenge on Ava
"Landon, if the DNA report shows Ashley's our sister, you gotta treat her better. She's super understanding and will definitely forgive you."
Landon felt a bit relieved hearing Liam. He nodded, thinking if the results were true, he'd work hard to change Ashley's opinion of him.
Liam suggested, "It's getting late. Should we say goodbye to Ashley before we leave?"
"Sure."
They headed to the hospital room, the door half-open. Just as they were about to go in, they saw Ethan bringing a basin of warm water and gently wiping Ashley's face and hands.
Seeing the famous Ethan being so gentle warmed their hearts.
"Honey, is the water too hot?"
Ashley shook her head. "Honey, why don't we hire a nurse? I feel bad you have to take care of me while you're so busy."
Ethan smiled. "You're my wife. Since you can't move, I have to take care of you. We could hire a nurse, but if she hurts you, I'd regret it."
Ashley was deeply moved.
Ethan must love her because he spoiled, protected, and cared for her, even if he never said "I love you," his actions always moved her.
"Ethan, thank you."
Ashley wanted to snuggle into his arms but couldn't move.
Ethan clicked his tongue. "If you keep sayting that, I'll have to do something to remind you that I'm your husband."
Ashley blushed instantly.
At the door, Landon and Liam quietly retreated and closed it as they left.
Ashley didn't notice anyone at the door, but Ethan did. He saw Landon and Liam, and his eyes flickered.
Liam sighed. "Landon, I didn't expect them to be so in love."
Landon nodded. "Yeah, I hope they stay this loving forever and never face any more troubles..."
Not long after Landon and Liam left, Ethan put Ashley to sleep. It was already past eleven at night.
Ethan looked at Ashley's sleeping face, feeling a wave of tenderness. But when he thought of Ava, his eyes turned cold.
He quietly walked out of the room and made a call. "Ryan, where are you?"
Ryan, who was out drinking, said, "I'm out handling something. What's up?"
"I need to interrogate Ava personally, right now. Help me."
Ryan was silent for a moment, then replied, "Take it easy. Remember, killing is illegal."
Ethan smirked coldly. "Don't worry, death would be too easy for her. I want her to wish she were dead!"
After hanging up, Ethan, filled with cold determination, drove to the police station.
Ryan sighed and shook his head. "When will this cycle of revenge end?"
"Mr. Reid, what are you doing out here? Trying to skip out on drinking? You've only had a few bottles," May said, grabbing Ryan as she came out of the private room.
Ryan raised an eyebrow. "Who said I was skipping out? Ethan just called me. And outside of work, don't call me Mr. Reid. It makes me feel like I'm slacking off."
May asked curiously, "Got it. So, what did Mr. Yates say?"
Ryan sighed, rubbing his temples. He silently pitied Ava, knowing Ethan was going to make her life hell. "Not important. Let's go drink."
They went back to the private room. Pauline was there, already tipsy after a few drinks.
Seeing them bickering, Pauline chuckled. "Where did you two go? Come on, tell me, are you secretly dating?"
May looked shocked. "Are you joking? I just met him today. How could we be dating? You must be drunk!"
Ryan looked at Pauline with a smirk. "Ms. Miller, why do I smell jealousy? Are you feeling jealous?"
Pauline quickly said, "I'm not," her eyes flickering with guilt.
May noticed the unusual atmosphere between them. 'Could it be these two have feelings for each other?' she thought.
She decided to play matchmaker. "Come on, let's drink. Ryan, Pauline, let's toast together!"
After more than half an hour of May's constant urging, Pauline passed out, and Ryan was rubbing his temples. "I can't drink anymore. I'm done."
"Ryan, you don't look well. How about I get a room at the nearby hotel for you two to rest?"
Ryan, wanting to lie down and sleep, didn't notice she said 'you two.' He mumbled an agreement.
May got a room, placed the drunken Pauline on the bed, and then arranged for Ryan to be in the same room. After setting everything up, she smiled triumphantly. "If you two end up together, you owe me a reward!"
With that, she turned and left, closing the door behind her. Inside the room, Ryan and Pauline slept on the same bed...
Meanwhile, Ethan arrived at the police station. Ryan had already pulled strings for Ethan, so Ethan went straight into the room where Ava was being held. Seeing him, Ava got excited. "Ethan, you're here? I knew it, you couldn't bear to see me suffer. Tell them to let me out, please!"
Ethan sneered, his eyes filled with murderous intent. "Alright, someone, take her away!"
