Chapter 338 A Joyous Scene
Liam's words made Yara's face flush. She wasn't sure if it was from embarrassment or shyness, and she kept her head down, avoiding everyone's gaze.
When Ashley asked her question, Liam replied, "We just got the certificate this afternoon. Oh, and Nora's last name is now White. From now on, she's Nora White."
After the press conference, Liam tracked down Yara to get some answers about the past. Once he knew the whole story, he took Yara to get married.
Ashley nodded. Since Nora was Liam's kid, it made sense for her to take the White surname. What really threw Ashley for a loop was Liam's sudden marriage to Yara.
Nora waved at Ashley and Ethan, "Mr. Yates, Mrs. Yates, we meet again. Mrs. Yates, I didn't take Daddy away from the baby in your tummy. Are you still mad at me?"
Ashley smiled awkwardly, her face turning red at Nora's words. She patted Nora's head and said, "Nora, I'm not mad at you. And I'm your aunt now."
Nora cheerfully called out, "That's great!"
Ashley said, "Liam, Yara, Nora, come on in and sit down."
Ashley and Ethan stepped aside to let them in.
The three of them walked into the house one after the other. Landon, who was coming down the stairs, saw them and was momentarily stunned.
Liam said, "Landon, I'll find a place for Yara and Nora to stay and then bring them down."
Although Landon was surprised, he didn't ask much and just nodded.
Ashley leaned over to Landon and said, "Landon, Liam and Yara got married."
Landon raised an eyebrow, "What? Doesn't Liam have a fiancée?"
Ashley looked puzzled, "Liam has a fiancée? I've never heard him mention it! Do you think there'll be trouble since Liam suddenly got married?"
Landon said, "Don't worry, Liam will handle it. Let's have dinner when they come down."
After chatting downstairs for a bit, Liam brought Yara and Nora down. Landon said, "Everyone's here, let's eat."
They headed to the dining room and took their seats.
Ashley occasionally glanced at Liam and Yara. Ethan gave Ashley a piece of steak and said, "Honey, try this."
Ashley then looked at Ethan, smiled sweetly at him.
The people around them couldn't help but feel a bit envious of their sweet interaction.
Ashley poured two drinks and handed one to Yara, saying, "Yara, here's to you."
Yara didn't expect Ashley to toast her with a non-alcoholic drink instead of alcohol. Feeling flattered, Yara picked up her glass and said, "Mrs. Yates, you're too kind."
Ashley said, "Don't be so formal. Now that you're married to Liam, you can call me Ashley like Liam does."
Yara blushed, "Ashley."
They took a sip of their drinks, and Ashley mischievously said, "Yara, if it weren't for me, you and Liam wouldn't have gotten married so quickly. Don't you think I deserve a reward?"
Yara was confused and instinctively looked at Liam, who just raised an eyebrow and remained silent.
Feeling embarrassed, Yara stammered, "It's urgent, and I didn't bring any gifts. How about I..."
Before Yara could finish, Liam coughed twice, took out two small gift boxes from his suit pocket, and placed them on the table. A hint of an unnatural blush appeared on Liam's face, "I prepared them for you."
Yara blinked in disbelief, blushing as she took the gifts and handed them to Ashley, "Ashley, these are gifts for you and Ethan."
Ashley had only been teasing Yara, not expecting Liam to have prepared in advance.
Ashley raised an eyebrow. Although Liam acted indifferent, his actions showed he was quite pleased with the marriage.
Ashley accepted the gifts, "Thank you, Liam and Yara. I really appreciate it."
Ashley nudged Ethan, "Honey, you have a gift too. You should thank them."
Ethan's face darkened. He was still upset about Yara lying that Nora was his child. His displeasure was evident.
Ashley understood Ethan's feelings and gave him a warning look. Although reluctant, Ethan accepted the gift and said, "Thank you, Liam and Yara. Congratulations on your marriage."
Yara felt very embarrassed. Ethan's words made her so uncomfortable that she couldn't lift her head. She mumbled softly, "I'm sorry."
Yara knew Ethan was very displeased with her.
Liam said, "Landon, I prepared one for you too."
He took out another gift box from his pocket. Landon accepted it without hesitation and said, "Liam, congratulations on your marriage. But you should inform Mom and Dad about it."
"Yes, I know," Liam replied.
Felicity, lurking in the shadows, watched the family's joyful scene, her heart a tempest of envy. Jealousy twisted her features, making her look monstrous.
After dinner, Ashley and Ethan were about to return to the Yates Mansion.
"Landon, Liam, Yara, Nora, we're heading back to the Yates Mansion. We'll see you tomorrow," Ashley said.
"Drive safely," Liam said.
Ethan opened the car door and helped Ashley into the passenger seat. The car started and drove away.
Halfway there, Ethan's phone rang.
"Ethan, it's Grandpa. Can you come to the hospital? Your mom has woken up!"
