Chapter 91 A Bunch of Coincidences
"Yeah." Nathan's eyes darkened. "At the graduation dance, Sienna was going to confess to her crush. The whole school was buzzing about it. Naturally, I heard too."
"I couldn't face it, so I got drunk at a bar. The next day, I woke up, and somehow, Sienna was lying next to me, and we..."
Nathan trailed off, but Ethan got the picture.
Ethan said, "But hey, once you got married, it's a legal deal. You should treat her right. After all these years, she must have developed some feelings for you."
"I don't expect her to like me. I'm willing to be a good husband... but..." Nathan got agitated. "Her crush came back, and I heard he wants to get back with Sienna."
Ethan clicked his tongue. "What were you scared of? If you were a real man, you should've told her ex to back off! Besides, you guys aren't even divorced yet. If he's trying to get back with your wife, that's third-party business. You had every right to give him a piece of your mind!" Ethan felt deeply annoyed by Nathan's emotions.
A man should handle things like a man, not act like a woman.
Ethan, usually elegant, couldn't help but curse this time.
Nathan looked surprised. "Yeah, why didn't I think of that... As long as I don't sign the divorce papers, he has no chance..."
Hope ignited in Nathan's eyes.
"That's not enough!"
Nathan looked at Ethan, confused. "What else should I do?"
Ethan suggested, "You need to show the whole world that you two are a loving couple, so the other guy will back off."
"You gotta woo your wife too. Get her clothes, shoes, bags, send her flowers every day. Make sure there's some ceremony on special days. You've been together for so many years, there's some emotion there. Trust me, if you do as I say, you'll definitely will her heart."
Ethan didn't know all this stuff before. He learned it all from Diannel.
Nathan, with a trembling voice, said, "Ethan, thank you so much. Your idea is great. Starting tomorrow, I'll be twice as good to Sienna, so she won't bring up divorce again."
"That's one part. If you want to know if she has feelings for you..."
Ethan whispered, "You should be hot and cold with her; play hard to get. That way, you can test her feelings."
Nathan nodded, half understanding. "I got it, Ethan. Thank you."
He excitedly grabbed Ethan's hand.
Ethan slapped his hand away unceremoniously. "Two grown men holding hands, isn't that gross?"
Nathan wasn't mad; he laughed. "I'm just too excited."
The two men shared a laugh. Ethan picked up his coffee cup. "Let's toast to your success in winning her back."
They clinked their coffee cups.
"Cheers!"
They each took a sip of coffee.
"After talking for over an hour, it's time to head back."
They stood up, and Ethan suddenly asked, "Nathan, I'm curious. Who was your wife's crush?"
Nathan felt a pang of jealousy. "He was the top student at school. I heard he became a cop after graduation."
"A cop? In which district?" Ethan thought of a friend.
"In Aurora. I heard he's a detective."
Ethan's eyelid twitched. 'It couldn't be such a coincidence, right?'
"What's his name?"
Nathan clenched his fists. "Ryan Reid."
Ethan's mouth dropped open. He rubbed his forehead in disbelief. Oh my God, his friend turned out to be the crush of his wife's best friend's. How could there be such a coincidence in the world?
If it were you, who would you help?
Ethan suddenly felt a massive headache.
"Ethan, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, let's head back to the hospital..."
Ethan decided to ask Ryan about it later.
At the hospital, two women were curled up on the bed watching a variety show, laughing heartily.
Ethan opened the door, and they turned off the TV.
"Honey, you're back. Where did you go?"
Ashley smiled, her eyes bright and sparkling.
Ethan patted her head. "Just sat outside for a bit. Are you hungry? I'll get you something to eat."
Seeing Ethan return, Sienna quietly put on her shoes and prepared to leave.
Ashley saw her getting ready to go. "Sienna, be careful on your way home. Text me when you get there!"
Sienna nodded. "Okay, I'll go now. Bye-bye."
She waved and turned to leave. Nathan was waiting outside. Seeing her come out, he took her bag and carried the empty lunch box, with his other hand supporting her waist, cautiously saying, "Honey, walk slowly, don't fall."
Sienna looked puzzled. 'What was he up to? Why is he being so attentive?'
"Let's go, Lily is waiting at home."
"Alright..."
With Nathan's support, Sienna left the hospital.
Ashley stood by the window, watching the scene, finally feeling relieved.
"Honey, did you say something to Nathan? Why did he suddenly change..."
"Want to know?" Ethan had a mysterious look on his face.
Ashley nodded. "Yeah."
Ethan smirked mischievously, wrapping his arm around her waist. "Kiss me, and I'll tell you."
