Chapter 313 Urgently Needing His Blood and Hair Follicles
Ashley helped Mia get comfy in bed and tucked her in. "Mom, you should get some good rest."
"Hayes," Mia said, holding her hand, "where did you learn your medical skills?"
Ashley replied, "Mom, I learned from my mentor, but honestly, I'm not super into medicine. My mentor kinda forced me to learn, so I only picked up a bit."
Landon and Liam exchanged confused looks. Ashley was being way too modest. In just a few days, she had cured ailments that had been around for decades. If the medical community found out, she'd be considered top-notch, yet she claimed she only knew a little!
Mia said, "Hayes, being too modest can come off as arrogance. Your medical skills are amazing. Do you think you can handle your own fertility issues?"
Ashley blushed and said, "Mom, I'm not being arrogant. I'm just being honest. My mentor pushed me into learning medicine, so I don't have a lot of theoretical knowledge. If I were to treat my infertility, I'd still need to consult my mentor's materials."
Even though Ashley was sincere, none of the three believed her.
Mia looked grateful, "Hayes, get in touch with your mentor. I'll visit them someday to thank them properly for teaching my daughter so well."
Ashley nodded, "Okay, Mom, you should rest more and use your eyes less. I'll take you to see my mentor in the next few days."
Mia nodded and closed her eyes to rest.
The three of them left the room.
Liam and Landon were too shocked to speak. After a while, Liam stammered, "Ashley, does Ethan know about your medical skills?"
Ashley shook her head, "He doesn't know."
Ashley playfully blinked, "Landon, Liam, keep this a secret for me, okay?"
Landon and Liam both nodded, "Okay."
Everyone had their own things to do, and soon they all went their separate ways.
Ashley returned to her room. With some free time, she became even more suspicious of the paternity test report.
Ethan hadn't replied yet. While waiting, Ashley suddenly felt very tired and fell asleep at her desk. She didn't know how long she had slept when Ethan's call woke her up.
Ashley answered in a hoarse voice, "Hello?"
On the other end, Ethan's voice came through, "Honey, did you just wake up?"
Ashley then realized she had fallen asleep.
Clearing her throat, Ashley said, "Honey, when are you coming back?"
Ethan replied, "I haven't finished my work yet. Do you miss me?"
Ashley rolled her eyes, "There's something urgent. If you can't come back, have someone bring your blood or hair follicles."
Sensing her serious tone, Ethan cautiously asked, "What's going on? Why do you need my blood and hair follicles?"
Ashley snorted, "It's important! Honey, can you have someone bring them?"
Ethan frowned, thought for a moment, and said, "I'll have Nick bring them."
Hearing this, Ashley sighed in relief, "Good, have him bring them as soon as possible."
Ethan asked, "Honey, are you hiding something from me?"
Ashley replied, "I'll explain everything when you get back from your trip."
Ethan sensed something very serious was going on. Otherwise, why would it involve blood and hair follicles? Being very smart, he joked, "You don't think I have a secret child and need my DNA for a paternity test, do you?"
Ashley snorted, "Exactly!"
Ethan was slightly angry, "Honey, I don't have any other women. Why don't you believe me?"
"We'll talk about this when you get back." Ashley rubbed her temples, "I've been feeling very sleepy lately. I won't talk to you anymore, I'm going to take a nap. You should remember to eat on time and get a good rest."
Ethan was initially a bit angry at Ashley's mysterious behavior, but hearing her concern, he felt less upset.
Ethan's deep voice came through, "Honey, you rest well too. I miss you."
Ashley smiled secretly, feeling sweet inside.
Ashley said, "I miss you too. Come back soon."
After saying that, Ashley blushed.
They chatted for a while longer before hanging up. Ashley yawned and suddenly felt a wave of nausea.
She covered her mouth and rushed to the bathroom to vomit.
After a while, she looked at her pale face in the mirror and wondered, 'I'm usually in good health. Why am I suddenly vomiting and feeling nauseous and dizzy?"
Ashley murmured, "Did I catch a cold while sleeping at the desk?"
Rubbing her aching temples, Ashley felt extremely tired.
After washing up, she lay down on the bed and fell asleep immediately.
Ethan finished his work and went to a nearby hospital to draw blood and collect hair follicles. He put them in a sealed bag and handed them to Nick, "Make sure you deliver this to Mrs. Yates personally, without any mistakes!"
"Yes, Mr. Yates." Nick nodded.
"And one more thing!" Ethan said, "When you get back to Aurora, secretly find out why Mrs. Yates needs these things!"
