Chapter 232 Do You Love Me?
Ashley was totally caught off guard by Ethan's sudden weird behavior. She almost jumped out of the car to grab the wedding rings, but Ethan quickly locked the door.
In a flash, Ethan was all up in her space, but it wasn't romantic at all—it was super tense.
Ethan's face was like a storm cloud, and the vibe in the car turned frosty. He looked like he was about to blow a gasket.
Ashley was floored by his intense vibe. "What the heck is going on?"
She wasn't stupid; she could tell Ethan was fuming, but she had no idea why.
Ethan's fists were so tight they were cracking. He glanced at another shopping bag in the back seat, reached over, and grabbed it.
Ashley was totally lost.
Ethan pulled out two ring boxes from the bag and popped them open, showing off a pair of brand-new wedding rings.
Ashley was even more confused.
"Babe, even if we need new rings, why toss the old ones?"
Ethan ignored her confusion. Even though he was clearly pissed, he held her hand with surprising gentleness.
He shoved the new ring onto her finger.
Then, pointing to the men's ring, he ordered, "Put this on me."
Ashley rolled her eyes but, feeling the heat from his anger, did as she was told and slipped the ring onto his finger.
With the new rings on, Ethan seemed a bit calmer, but he was still in a foul mood.
Ethan declared, "From now on, these are our rings!"
Ashley asked, "Can you tell me why you suddenly changed our rings?"
"Let me ask you," Ethan shot back, "Do you love me or not?"
"Of course!" Ashley blurted out without thinking.
Ethan's lips twitched into a slight smile, but then his face darkened again. "That's not what I want to hear."
Ashley was completely baffled. Seeing the anger on his face, she guessed it might have something to do with her friendship with Yaakov.
Ashley couldn't figure out why they had to change rings, but she could tell Ethan was mad and jealous.
Ashley felt really stressed; she had no clue how to calm Ethan down.
In Ethan's angry eyes, there was a flicker of hope.
Ashley climbed onto his lap, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him passionately.
Ethan enjoyed her bold move, but he stayed cold and unresponsive.
Ashley found it weird and thought, 'Am I not doing enough?'
"Babe~" she said in a flirty tone.
Ethan's angry heart softened a bit at her tone.
"I don't know why you're mad, but..." Ashley hugged his waist and said, "I really love you, like, a lot..."
Ethan's lips curled up, and he lifted her chin. "Loving someone isn't just about saying it; it's about showing it."
Ashley said, "Haven't I shown it enough?"
"Since I've been with you, I haven't even looked at another guy."
Ethan knew this, but thinking about what Chris had said made him mad all over again.
Ethan said, "Since you say you love me, now's the time to prove it."
Seeing the intense look in Ethan's eyes, Ashley's face turned bright red. They'd been married long enough for her to know exactly what that look meant.
She looked around. Even though this was a deserted area...
"You're not thinking about..."
"That's right."
Ashley's heart was pounding.
Ethan whispered in her ear, "Today, I'm just gonna watch how you show your love for me."
Hearing such bold words, Ashley blushed from head to toe. She never expected Ethan to be so wild!
"What, you don't want to?"
Ethan thought of Chris again, wondering where he had touched her during their time together...
Thinking about it made Ethan mad all over again.
But before he could lose it, Ashley jumped on him and said, "You asked for this..."
Outside the car, the scenery was beautiful.
A gentle breeze blew, making the willow trees by the river sway and ripple...
