Chapter 234 Discussing Remarriage

"Ethan, I try to explain, but you just don't listen. No matter what I say, you think you're right. I can't argue with you! I don't wanna talk to you right now. Cool off on your own!" Ashley snapped, her voice dripping with frustration.

Both of them were fuming after the blowout.

Ashley never imagined Ethan would accuse her so irrationally.

When Ethan saw Ashley getting out of the car, he instinctively reached out to grab her hand but pulled back, afraid he might hurt her with too much force.

"Where are you going?" Ethan asked.

Ashley, still seething, shot back, "Leave me alone!"

Ashley felt wronged. She had given so much for this man, yet he still doubted her sincerity. Was he out of his mind?

The more she thought about it, the more wronged she felt. With tears in her eyes, Ashley turned on her phone's flashlight and started searching the grass for the rings.

"I said I don't want those rings anymore. Why are you looking for them..." Ethan, furious, said, "Or is it that you haven't forgotten about Chris!"

"You just made love to me and swore you loved me, and now you're thinking about another man. You big lier."

Ethan was so consumed by jealousy that he said some nonsensical things in his anger.

If others knew that Ethan was so clueless in matters of the heart, they would be shocked.

Ashley was so angry her chest heaved, and she gritted her teeth. "Ethan, you idiot, I never want to talk to you again!"

Ashley, in her rage, started hitting Ethan with her fists, venting her inner anger on his chest.

Ethan didn't fight back, letting Ashley hit him. But after a few hits, he worried that she might hurt her hand again, he grabbed her wrist.

Ashley almost screamed, "Let go of me."

At that moment, a luxury car pulled up by the roadside.

Diannel got out of the car, carrying two bags. As she walked over, she saw Ethan holding Ashley's wrist.

Moreover, their clothes were disheveled and faces slightly flushed. It was obvious...

"Mr. Ethan Yates, Mrs. Ashley Yates, I brought your clothes..." Diannel said.

Ashley blushed and turned her face away, embarrassed to see Diannel. She happened to spot the wedding rings on the ground and discreetly picked them up.

Ethan, focused on Diannel, didn't notice Ashley's action. He coldly ordered, "Leave them here."

Diannel said, "Mr. Ethan Yates, Mrs. Ivy Yates called you earlier, but you didn't answer. She asked me to tell you that you must return to the old house tonight to discuss the old chairman's remarriage."

"Got it." Ethan replied.

Diannel wisely left.

Ethan took the clothes and said, "Change first, then we'll go back to the old house."

Ashley glared at him and took the bag.

Since no one was around, they changed clothes in the car. Diannel had brought a white dress that needed a zipper on the back.

After putting it on, Ashley tried to zip it up herself, but her wrist seemed to be strained, causing her to wince in pain.

A look of pain flashed across Ashley's face.

Seeing this, Ethan felt a pang of guilt and silently helped her zip up the dress.

After their argument, Ashley didn't expect him to help her. She huffed internally, thinking he wasn't totally clueless.

Once they were dressed, Ethan drove back to the old house. The half-hour drive was silent.

The Yates Mansion

As soon as Ethan walked in, he heard Ivy say, "James, after we remarry, we must have a proper wedding so the whole world knows I'm the happiest woman in the world..."

James rubbed his temples and, seeing Ethan enter, stood up and said, "Ethan, you're back."

Ashley followed Ethan in, nodded slightly, and said, "Good evening, Dad, Mom."

"Ashley, you're back too. Have a seat." James smiled.

Ethan and Ashley sat down.

"Mr. Ethan Yates, Mrs. Ashley Yates, please have some tea." A maid brought freshly brewed tea. Ethan took a sip and, seeing Ashley reach for her cup, instinctively took it for her.

"Be careful, it's hot. Don't burn yourself." Ethan handed the cup to Ashley's lips. She felt a mix of emotions but was embarrassed by the gesture in front of their parents.

'Carrot and stick approach,' Ashley scoffed.

She huffed coldly and said, "I'll do it myself."

She took the cup, her hand trembling slightly. Seeing this, Ethan was nervous, but remembering her refusal, his face turned grim.

The change in their interaction was obvious, and Ivy and James exchanged glances.

Ivy asked, "What's wrong? Did you two have a fight?"
