Diannel said, "Mrs. Yates, go ahead. You're the Yates Group's savior. I'd do anything for you!"
He wasn't kidding. Even though he was just Ethan's assistant, he owed his good life to the Yates family. So, Ethan was more than just a boss; he was a benefactor.
Seeing his benefactor in trouble made him anxious and frustrated. Now that the Yates Group's crisis was over, he couldn't help but feel emotional.
"Don't get too excited; it's not a big deal," Ashley said, sighing. "Just help me keep today's events from Ethan. Tell him the manufacturer shipped smoothly, so Kelsey canceled the lawsuit."
Everyone was shocked.
Samnatha said, "Ashley, why? You've done so much for the Yates family. If you tell Ethan, he'll respect you even more!"
Ashley looked at her numb hands, worried about her future. Handling those shoes earlier had made her wrists hurt, and she broke out in a cold sweat from the pain.
Even though she looked calm, she was in pain. If she told Ethan...
She was afraid he'd feel guilty and burdened.
Diannel didn't get it either. "Yes, Mrs. Yates, why keep it from him?"
Pauline, who knew her well, sighed. "As long as the outcome is good, just follow Ashley's instructions."
Ashley said, "Diannel, promise me you won't tell Ethan about today."
Diannel thought for a moment and nodded. "Okay, Mrs. Ashley Yates, I promise."
"By the way, these shoes were fine yesterday. How did they break?"
"Could Kelsey be causing trouble?"
Samnatha and Pauline started gossiping. Ashley's eyes flashed. "Kelsey is powerful and has many ways to handle the Yates Group. She wouldn't need to personally damage the shoes."
"When we worked with this factory, we told them not to leak info... but the shoes still had issues."
"So, was it the manufacturer?"
"Or did Kelsey send someone to sabotage? Ashley, should we investigate?"
"Of course!"
Ashley's eyes darkened. "Everyone who put the Yates Group in danger must be investigated!"
Then she thought of someone. "Where's Chloe?"
"Since we met at the factory yesterday, there's been no news from her. Maybe she's busy in her studio?"
"Let's go find her."
"Okay."
Ashley turned to Diannel. "Diannel, are you going back to take care of Ethan or coming with us?"
Diannel thought for a moment. "Mrs. Yates, it's risky for you all to investigate alone. I'll come with you. I can help if anything happens."
Ashley smiled. "Alright."
Diannel looked at Ashley with admiration, which amused her.
At Chloe's Studio.
It was lunchtime, so the studio was mostly empty. They followed the signs to the CEO's office, where they heard Chloe on the phone.
"How did the task I gave you this morning go?"
"Great."
"How dare Ashley ignore me? I'm a well-known designer in Ferndale, and people are eager to work with me. I swallowed my pride and asked her for advice, and she took it for granted. I'll show her what I'm capable of!"
Chloe noticed the door was ajar and saw Ashley and the others outside, looking shocked. She gasped and hung up the phone.
"Ashley..."
"Listen, what I just said wasn't true. I was joking..."
Ashley was initially shocked, then her eyes turned cold.
"Chloe, I thought Kelsey sabotaged the shoes. I didn't expect it to be you!"
"Ashley... I just..."
"You don't need to explain."
Ashley looked at Pauline. "Pauline has been with me for over ten years and hasn't mastered my skills. Do you think you can learn everything in one day?"
"I..."
"Learning a craft takes time and dedication, not petty tricks. Who would want a student like you?"
Chloe stayed silent, her eyes showing defiance instead of remorse.
Ashley found it amusing and regretted ever taking Chloe on as a student. Chloe had nearly caused huge trouble for the Yates Group.
Her voice turned icy. "I'm not suitable to be your teacher. From today on, if you claim I am, you'll face the consequences!"
"Let's go."
"Okay."
Pauline pushed Ashley's wheelchair out.
Chloe's face turned red with anger. "I don't care if you want to be my teacher. How great do you think you are? You're not a top designer like Elisa. Compared to her, you're nothing!"
Pauline raised an eyebrow, looking at Chloe as if she were an idiot.
If Chloe knew that Ashley was Elisa...
Would she regret it now?
