Chapter 53 Get Rid of the Baby and Get Back Together with Me

Ever since he was kidnapped as a kid, Ethan had been haunted by nightmares, leading to years of insomnia. The lack of sleep had given him constant headaches.

Ashley lay beside him, his head on her thigh, her fingers gently massaging his scalp. About ten minutes later, Ethan finally fell into a deep sleep.

Ashley's legs went numb, but she carefully cradled his head, covered him with a blanket, and then went to wash up.

After some digging, Chris found out Ashley was at this hospital. But since it was a royal hospital and off-limits to outsiders, he had to wait outside.

While washing up, Ashley heard her phone vibrating. She quickly grabbed it, not wanting to wake Ethan.

She answered in the bathroom, "Hello?"

Chris's voice was excited. "Ashley, you finally picked up!"

"Chris, I was going to call you, but something came up, and I had to go to Ferndale. Let's talk when I get back."

"Ashley, I'm already in Ferndale. Can you meet me now?"

"You're in Ferndale? You want to meet now?"

Ashley glanced at the clock; it was already 9:30 PM.

"Now's not a good time. How about tomorrow?"

"Ashley!" Chris sounded annoyed. "You're making me wait again!"

Ashley felt a wave of helplessness. "Where are you now?"

"I'm at the entrance of your hospital."

"Alright, give me a few minutes."

Ashley hung up and sighed. She needed to set things straight so Chris wouldn't keep chasing her.

She changed into casual clothes, put on a mask and sunglasses, and headed to the hospital entrance. She spotted Chris standing under the lights.

"Chris," she called out.

Chris looked at her and smiled. "Ashley, why are you all covered up?"

"I don't want to be seen, so I dressed like this. There's a café across the street; let's go there to talk."

Without waiting for a response, Ashley started walking towards the café.

Chris was momentarily stunned, a stubborn light flashing in his eyes.

She used to love being with him, but now she acted like she was hiding something, afraid of being seen with him!

Chris felt a deep resentment, his eyes filled with hidden anger.

"Chris, why are you standing there? Let's go!"

Ashley called back to him, and Chris's fierce expression immediately softened into a gentle smile.

"Coming."

The two walked into the café. Ashley booked a private room and, after making sure there were no cameras or nosy people around, took off her mask and sunglasses.

Chris laughed at her. "Ashley, you look like a celebrity dodging paparazzi."

Ashley chuckled. "Isn't that the truth? Ever since I got with Ethan, the media's been all over us. No freedom at all."

Her tone was a mix of complaint and affection.

Hearing Ethan's name, a cold glint flashed in Chris's eyes.

"Chris, Ethan's asleep now, so I have time to talk. What do you need? Just say it! If he wakes up and I'm not there, he'll get mad again!"

Though she complained, she couldn't help but smile.

Every time she mentioned Ethan, Chris felt like he was suffocating.

He lowered his head, hiding the jealousy in his eyes.

Chris pulled out a gift box from his bag and handed it to Ashley. "Open it."

Ashley opened the box and was shocked to see a diamond ring. It looked strikingly similar to her and Ethan's wedding rings.

Her eyes widened.

"Years ago, I asked you what kind of wedding ring you'd want if we got married. You drew a ring in the sand, and I remembered it. I had it made."

Ashley was stunned, her heart stirred, but something felt off. "You didn't have money when you were in the orphanage. How did you make it?"

"I didn't have money back then, but I later found my biological parents. They gave me a substantial allowance every month, so I used the money to have the rings made."

Chris took her hand and said passionately, "Ashley, divorce Ethan and marry me. I can give you a better life now."

Ashley quickly pulled her hand back, her mind in turmoil.

He remembered the ring she had casually sketched years ago and had it made years later.

But he didn't know she had refined that design and made it into the rings she and Ethan wore on their ring fingers!

Faced with his deep affection, Ashley blushed with shame, feeling unworthy of his love. "Chris, I'm already married, and I'm pregnant with another man's child. I'm not good enough for you. You should find a better girl! Forget about me!"

Seeing her blush, Chris thought she still had feelings for him and was just shy. His anxious heart suddenly felt reassured.

"Ashley, I know you still have feelings for me. Get rid of the baby, and let's start over, okay?"

Ashley widened her eyes in shock. What was he saying? His words shattered her worldview!
