Chapter 333 Morgan's Car Accident
The Yates Group called an emergency press conference, and the place was packed with media folks buzzing about Ethan's scandal and the supposed love child.
As soon as Ethan walked in, cameras started flashing like crazy.
"Mr. Yates, can you tell us about your affair and the illegitimate child?" one reporter asked.
Another chimed in, "Mr. Yates, don't you think having a mistress is unfair to your wife?"
Ethan took his seat, cool as a cucumber, and said, "The kid isn't mine!"
"But the paternity test says otherwise," someone shouted. "Mr. Yates, are you trying to deny it?"
Ethan shot them a frosty look and said, "I'm not repeating myself. I'll release the proof later!"
With that, he got up and started to leave.
He'd barely taken a few steps when someone yelled, "Hold on!"
A reporter shouted, "Mr. Yates, since your wife can't have kids and your mistress gave you one, why not just admit it?"
Another voice added, "Yeah, the facts are right here. Do you think you can fool us by just saying the kid isn't yours?"
Ethan stopped, turned to the heckling reporter with a glare that could freeze fire, and said, "What did you just say?"
The reporter, feeling the heat of Ethan's stare, stammered, "Your wife can't have kids. Everyone knows it. Why keep pretending? Just acknowledge the kid."
Ethan narrowed his eyes and stepped closer, making the reporter back up in fear.
With a cold smirk, Ethan said, "Are you trying to tell me how to live my life?"
He looked the reporter up and down with disdain and added, "Do you think you're qualified?"
Ethan's presence was so intense that the once cocky reporter's legs turned to jelly, and he plopped into a chair, sweating bullets.
Ethan snorted, "Nick."
Nick stepped up, and Ethan said, "This guy insulted my wife. I have the right to sue him. Take care of it."
"Yes, Mr. Yates," Nick replied. Ethan looked around the room and said, "I have one thing to say: the kid isn't mine!"
Then he walked out.
"Mr. Yates, don't go!" a reporter shouted. "Mr. Yates, you say the kid isn't yours, but do you have proof?"
Reporters swarmed, but the staff held them back. Once outside, Ethan called Morgan, "Is the paternity test ready?"
"Ethan, not yet. I'm working on it," Morgan replied.
"Get it done within an hour!"
Morgan groaned but had no choice but to speed up the process.
Meanwhile, news of Ethan's press conference spread like wildfire online. Annie saw the headlines on her phone and smirked.
Ethan had a mistress?
From what Annie knew about Ethan, he would never do something like this. But this was her chance to take him down. Her eyes burned with hatred as she started plotting ways to hire online trolls to attack Ethan and Ashley.
At the same time, Annie dug around to find out who was behind this mess—Lucas!
The Xavier Mansion
Annie, wearing sunglasses and a mask, sat on the sofa, giving off a vibe of mystery and danger.
Lucas sipped his tea and asked, "Who are you, and what do you want?"
Annie replied, "Who I am isn't important. What's important is that I can help you."
Lucas raised an eyebrow, "Help me?"
"Of course!" Annie said, "You've seen the latest news, right? Ethan's so sure the kid isn't his. Aren't you worried?"
Lucas's eyes flickered, "I don't know what you're talking about. What does this have to do with me?"
Annie laughed, "Don't play dumb. If I found you, I must have found evidence! If I can find it, Ethan can find it even easier. He's calm because he has proof to fight back, while you're just sitting here. Aren't you scared Ethan will come after you?"
With that, Annie took out her phone, played some surveillance videos, and handed it to Lucas. As Lucas watched, his face grew darker and darker, "You've been following me! What do you want!"
She sneered, "Don't be so hasty. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. We're the same kind of people, both seeing Ethan as an enemy and determined to bring him down!"
Annie was actually Ava.
After being imprisoned, Ava suffered inhumane treatment, all because she had hurt Ashley and faced Ethan's relentless revenge. Ava's life in prison was a nightmare!
Later, Ava was rescued from prison by Josselin. She changed her name to Annie and underwent plastic surgery to look similar to Ashley, all to set the stage for her future plans!
Ava once loved Ethan, but that love had turned to hatred. Now, she only wanted to destroy him!
Ava said, "There's another press conference at three this afternoon. Are you just going to sit here and wait to die?"
Ava's words made Lucas's eyes flicker, "Ethan has traced it back to me?"
Ava sneered, "What do you think?"
Hearing this, Lucas deflated like a punctured balloon, looking terrified, "What should I do? Will Ethan kill me?"
"Don't worry. When Ethan presents the evidence this afternoon, here's what you should do." Ava leaned in and whispered her sinister plan into Lucas's ear.
At three in the afternoon
The second press conference began. Before going on stage, Ethan called Morgan, "Is the report ready?"
Morgan replied, "It's ready!"
"Good, bring it to the press conference immediately!"
"Okay."
Morgan didn't even have time to take off his lab coat and drove straight to the venue. However, a car suddenly crashed into Morgan's vehicle.
