Chapter 262 Sweet Moments of Mr. and Mrs. Yates

Ashley rocked that red dress, showing off her curves like nobody's business. With the Midnight Bloom necklace, she was straight-up mesmerizing.

She lightly touched the necklace, her heart doing somersaults from Ethan's sweet move.

Feeling like she just tasted the sweetest honey, Ashley grinned, "You dropped twenty mil on this necklace, just like that?"

Raising an eyebrow, she teased, "Isn't that a bit of a waste?"

Ethan smirked, "Maybe you can pay me back."

Ashley, intrigued, asked, "And how exactly should I do that?"

Ethan leaned in, his breath warm against her ear, "Tonight, when we get home, you know what I mean."

In front of everyone, Mr. Yates whispered such flirty words, making Ashley blush and her heart race. She playfully glared at him. "Seriously? Saying that in front of everyone? Wanna cause a scene?"

Ethan shrugged. "I whispered it. They can't hear. Or do you want me to be louder?"

He opened his mouth like he was about to shout something embarrassing.

Ashley, blushing like crazy, quickly covered his mouth, "Don't you dare, or it's the couch for you tonight."

She glared at him with a cute fierceness, like an angry kitten, more adorable than scary.

Ethan's Adam's apple bobbed as he fought the urge to kiss her.

With a doting smile, he made a surrender gesture. "Alright, babe, my bad."

Seeing him admit defeat, Ashley snorted softly and let him go. They continued their playful banter, making everyone around them a bit envious.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the charity gala has wrapped up successfully. We've also got a banquet ready for you. Please head to the hall," the host's voice boomed from the stage.

Ethan grabbed Ashley's hand and led her to the hall.

People passing by looked at them with envy, nodding and greeting them.

"Mrs. Yates, I'm so jealous you snagged such a great guy. You're so lucky," someone said.

Ashley responded with a polite smile.

But when Ashley and Ethan's eyes met, they were so lost in each other they didn't notice anyone else.

Feeling it was best not to intrude, people around them moved away to give them space.

The hall was packed with delicious food.

Ethan asked, "You hungry?"

Ashley was about to say something when a few folks with wine glasses came up to Ethan for a toast, "Mr. Yates, let's have a drink together."

Ashley took the chance to slip away, "You go ahead, I'll grab some food."

"Alright," Ethan replied.

Ashley grabbed a tray and started picking out some food. She snagged a few desserts and a glass of juice, then found a quiet corner to sit down.

Ethan, while chatting business with others, kept sneaking glances through the crowd to spot Ashley. Someone next to him teased, "Mr. Yates, you and Mrs. Yates have only been apart for two minutes, but you can't take your eyes off her. You're really smitten."

Ethan just smiled, not saying a word.

He checked his watch; the planned time was coming up.

"I gotta take care of something. Enjoy yourselves," Ethan said, giving Ashley one last lingering look. He smiled but didn't go to her, instead heading somewhere else.

As Ashley was munching on her dessert, June walked up, "Mrs. Yates, mind if I join you?"

Seeing June, Ashley remembered what Nora had said and wasn't too thrilled. But since June was the event host, she couldn't just blow her off.

Ashley replied coolly, "Sure."

June smiled and sat across from her. Noticing the Midnight Bloom on Ashley's neck, a flash of jealousy crossed her eyes. "Mrs. Yates, you and Mr. Yates are so in love. I'm so envious. How did you and Mr. Yates meet?"

Ashley raised an eyebrow, took a sip of juice, and replied indifferently, "Why should I tell you?"

June's smile froze, "Mrs. Yates, you have quite a sense of humor."

Ashley, expressionless, put down her utensils. "Ms. Lopez, excuse me."

She stood up and walked away.

June watched her leave, a shadow crossing her eyes. Suddenly, Ashley stopped and looked back, catching the malicious expression on June's face.

June hadn't expected Ashley to turn around and was slow to hide her twisted expression. She forced a smile at Ashley.

Ashley raised an eyebrow and turned to leave.

Nora's warning had been spot on; June was bad news. It was not about revenge for Nora, but if June crossed her, she wouldn't hold back.

Just as she was about to leave, suddenly, with a loud sound, the entire hall went dark!

The place plunged into darkness, and people started freaking out, some even screaming.

"Is it a power outage?" someone asked.

Ashley looked around, trying to find Ethan.

June, with a nasty look in her eyes, glanced at the forks and spoons on the table. An evil thought crossed her mind. She picked up a fork and moved closer to Ashley. Just as she was about to strike...
