Chapter 207 The Mystery of Origins

Ashley had no clue Ethan had found out about her sacrifices.

Ethan felt a crushing guilt, like he couldn't breathe.

He hid in a corner, yanking at his hair.

Aurora.

The Yates Mansion.

Doris and Ivy stormed in, already arguing.

"Doris, why are you back?"

Doris sneered, "To get revenge on you!"

Her eyes burned with hatred as she stepped closer, making Ivy back away.

'Damn, she has Ethan's vibe,' Ivy thought, feeling both angry and scared.

Ivy swallowed hard, trying to stay calm. "Revenge? Our grudge was settled over thirty years ago!"

"You don't think James still likes you, do you? At your age, how can you still have such fantasies?"

"You've been gone for over 30 years. You think he's been lonely all these years? He's probably got a whole harem." Ivy sneered.

Doris didn't get mad. She raised an eyebrow confidently. "Really? Then why do all those women look a bit like me?"

"You!"

Ivy was furious. She grabbed Doris's neck, snarling, "You wretched woman, I'll strangle you! You're gonna regret being so cocky with me."

Ivy squeezed hard, almost meaning it. Doris's face turned red, but she stayed calm, even disdainful.

"Go ahead, strangle me."

"If I die here, let's see how you explain it!"

Ivy instantly calmed down and let go, glaring at Doris.

Doris adjusted her clothes and said, "Behave, or I'll tell James how you caused his child to die back then!"

Ivy's eyes flashed with guilt and other unreadable emotions, but Doris didn't notice.

"What are you standing there for? Go get me some clean clothes!"

Ivy's confidence wavered. "Wait here," she said, heading to the closet.

Doris scanned the room. When she saw Ethan's photo, she couldn't bring herself to hate him.

She studied the photo, lost in thought. A gust of wind blew a piece of paper to her feet.

She picked it up instinctively.

[Ethan's Birth Certificate]

The birthdate was May 11, 1992.

Doris's heart pounded. May 11, 1992, was the day she lost her child, and it was also Ethan's birth date?

Her emotions surged. She felt injustice, resentment, and confusion...

Her eyes turned red as she looked at the birth certificate. She heard footsteps and hid it.

"Here, take this and change."

Doris took the clothes and turned to leave, bumping into Thomas at the door.

She looked at him, confused. When did he get here? Did he hear their conversation?

Thomas bowed. "Ms. Jones, Mr. James Yates requests your presence downstairs."

"Okay."

"Just now, did you hear..."

Before she could finish, Thomas's phone rang.

He glanced at the caller ID. "Ms. Jones, what did you want to ask me? Sorry, Mr. Ethan Yates is calling. I need to take this."
