Chapter 243 Adorable Little Elf
The Next Day
The sun was blazing, its golden rays streaming through the window, lighting up the two people snuggled in bed.
The bright light woke Ashley up. As soon as she opened her eyes, she was greeted by a handsome face, super close.
Remembering the wild night, Ashley blushed.
"Morning, babe." She planted a kiss on his handsome face.
Ethan stirred, not even opening his eyes. He wrapped one arm around her waist and placed the other hand on the back of her head, giving her a passionate morning kiss.
Ashley patted his chest, blushing as she pushed him away. "We gotta get up and go see Lily."
Ethan lazily opened his eyes, his voice sexy and husky, "Okay."
One Hour Later
They showed up at the mall, heading to the toy section to pick out a gift for Lily.
Ashley followed the sales assistant to choose items, while Ethan stood nearby making a phone call. On the other end, Diannel said, "Mr. Yates, the construction has started on the land in the central area. According to the original plan, we should begin from Market Street, but due to a resident's strong opposition, the project has been halted. We've tried negotiating with this resident, offering a higher compensation, but their demands have exceeded our budget. Mr. Yates, what should we do?"
Hearing this, Ethan frowned and said, "If this path doesn't work, find another one."
"The team had the same thought. They've already planned an alternative route. The route map has been sent to your email. Please review it and let us know if we can proceed," Diannel replied.
"Okay."
Ethan hung up the phone and saw a bench nearby. Just as he was about to sit down and review the documents, he accidentally bumped into a kid.
Ethan, being tall and strong, had unintentionally knocked the kid into a cabinet, causing the child to cry loudly.
Ethan was annoyed by the noise, then he said, "Stop crying."
The kid, a chubby-cheeked little girl with two pigtails, looked like an adorable little dumpling.
Startled by Ethan's shout, the little girl cried even harder.
"Stop crying. It was my fault for bumping into you. Where are your parents? I'll apologize to them." Ethan looked around but didn't see the girl's parents.
After crying for a while, the little girl saw Ethan's stern face and suddenly stopped crying. From her perspective, Ethan was tall and handsome, like a movie star.
Ethan also took a closer look at the little girl, finding her increasingly adorable.
In her sweet childlike voice, the little girl said, "Sir, you're so handsome. Why are you so mean? Your kids must be really scared of you!"
Ethan felt a pang in his heart, as if she had touched a sensitive spot.
Rubbing his temples, Ethan said, "I don't have any kids."
"But this is the children's section. If you don't have kids, why are you here?"
The little girl blinked her innocent eyes. Ethan, looking at her cute face, felt a twinge of envy for those who had children.
"I'm here to pick out a gift for my friend's kid." Ethan rubbed his temples, wondering why he was even talking to a child.
"Oh, I see," the little girl said. "Sir, do you have a girlfriend?"
Ethan smiled wryly. Kids these days were so precocious, knowing about such things at such a young age?
Ethan said, "No, I don't have a girlfriend."
The little girl's eyes lit up, but Ethan quickly added, "But I do have a wife."
A look of disappointment flashed in the little girl's eyes. "I was going to introduce my mommy to you. Since you already have a wife, shemust be really good-looking. When are you going to have a baby? Your kid would be super cute!"
Hearing the little girl's words, a glimmer of light flashed in Ethan's eyes.
Unconsciously, he glanced at Ashley, who was picking out a gift, his eyes filled with tenderness. But thinking of certain things, his gaze dimmed again.
"Sir, what are you looking at?" The cute girl asked.
"Honey." Ashley's voice sounded from behind him. "What are you doing?"
Ethan turned around and saw the Barbie doll in her hand, "Did you pick out the gift?"
"Yeah." Ashley said, "Lily is a girl, and girls love Barbie dolls. I think she'll like it."
"Wow, this doll is a limited edition. It's super expensive. My mommy wouldn't buy it for me," The girl shouted.
Hearing this, Ashley finally noticed the little girl, "Who is she?"
Ethan shrugged, "I accidentally bumped into her. This little one is quite clever, saying all sorts of strange things. I just haven't seen her parents around."
Ashley stepped forward, squatted down, and put her arm around the little girl's shoulder, "Sweetie, what's your name? Where are your mom and dad?"
