Chapter 482 Master of Deduction

"Well..." Atticus was caught off guard by the children's sudden question and hesitated momentarily.

After a pause, he replied, "I don't feel comfortable discussing someone behind their back. If they found out, they might think I'm speaking ill of them."

"Godfather," Andy said, "today at kindergarten, we met a man called Yaakov who said he was Mommy's friend. He told us Mommy and Daddy used to be very much in love, but everyone mistakenly thought Mommy had died, and then Daddy disappeared without a trace."

Atticus looked surprised. "Is that true?"

Andy and Nate nodded emphatically. "That's what he told us."

Andy continued, "We've never understood why Daddy abandoned us. If we did something wrong, we can change, but if there's been a misunderstanding between Daddy and Mommy, we want to help clear it up as soon as possible."

Atticus gazed at them tenderly and stroked their heads. "You really are good kids."

"About your parents' situation, I don't know all the details, but I heard..." Atticus paused, looking cautiously at the children. "Your mother's family member said your father was a bad person who once tried to steal her property and harm her. She specifically warned us to stay away from him if we ever saw him."

"At first, your mother was frightened when she saw him, but later she realized your father seemed to have forgotten all memories of her," he added.

"What?" Nate exclaimed angrily. "Daddy would never do something so terrible!"

Andy thought for a moment before saying, "Nate, don't get upset. We've heard two different versions of the same story, which means someone must be lying. We just need to investigate quietly to find out what really happened."

Andy's words calmed Nate down.

Atticus looked at him in surprise. "You're just children. What kind of investigation could you do? You're not detectives. Finish your evening snack and go to bed—don't get any dangerous ideas."

"I understand, Godfather," Andy said dismissively. "I was just kidding."

"Adult matters should be handled by adults. Don't worry yourselves with these things, okay?"

Andy replied, "Okay." Then he changed the subject, "Godfather, have some more skewers!"

Nate chimed in, "Godfather, cheers!"

The three of them sat at the table, happily eating meat skewers and drinking, enjoying each other's company with an almost brotherly rapport.

After they finished eating, Atticus urged the brothers to go to their room and sleep.

"Andy, how should we investigate what happened back then?" Nate asked.

Andy rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Daddy lost his memories about Mommy, but I'm not sure how. Let me search online."

"Good idea."

They took out a tablet and began searching for information.

After a while, they found a headline #Can Hypnosis Adjust Memory Function?

"Hypnosis?" Andy bit his lip, his eyes narrowing in concentration.

"It says here... there's a type of hypnosis that can make someone's memory... what's that word?"

"Don't be silly. It says hypnosis might be able to alter memories, or erase specific memories. If we follow this article's logic... Daddy might have forgotten Mom because someone hypnotized him and erased all memories related to her."

"Wow, Andy, you're so smart! How can we help Daddy remember Mommy?"

"Let me search for more information."

"Okay!"

They continued their research, and Andy said, "According to this, if someone has amnesia, they can recover memories by visiting familiar places and meeting people they once knew."

Andy smiled cleverly. "Nate, I know what to do."

"What's the plan?"

"We're all from Aivalia, and that's definitely where Daddy and Mommy once lived. So we need to find a way to get them both to Aivalia. Maybe seeing familiar people and places will help restore Daddy's memories."

Nate clapped his hands. "You're brilliant!"

Andy raised an eyebrow, turned off the tablet, and said, "It's settled then. Now let's get some sleep—Daddy's taking us to the amusement park tomorrow morning."

"Okay."

The brothers climbed into bed and dreamed sweetly all night about their parents reconciling soon.

The next morning at eight o'clock

Ethan opened his eyes to find Ashley's lovely face before him. Looking closely, one could see that his eyes, which had been bloodshot every day before, were now clear and bright—he looked remarkably well-rested.

Ashley was still asleep, her thick eyelashes long and curled, her skin delicate and glowing. Looking at her, Ethan couldn't resist gently tracing her features with his finger. Each touch sent a flutter through his heart.

Ashley stirred slightly and opened her eyes.

Seeing Ethan's face so close to hers, she froze momentarily before blushing.

Ethan curved his lips into a smile, his voice deep and husky, "Good morning, Pearl."

He placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.

In that moment, he was struck by a profound desire—to wake up every morning for the rest of his life with her beside him, his first words always being: Good morning, darling.
