Chapter 404 Mr. Yates Cooks Personally

Ashley felt a pang in her heart as she held Ethan's hand, offering him silent comfort.

After being married for over a year, Ethan and Ashley had developed a deep connection. They could understand each other's thoughts with just a gesture or a glance.

Ethan felt Ashley's comforting presence and gave her a tender smile as their eyes met.

From the side, Liam asked, "Ethan, who do you think leaked our conversation from the restaurant?"

Ethan snapped back to reality, his voice turning cold. "Whoever it is, when I find them, they'll certainly face consequences."

His voice was low and menacing, with an icy tone that made everyone in the room shiver.

Just then, Landon's phone rang with an unknown number.

As he hesitated whether to answer, Liam prompted, "Landon, aren't you going to get that?"

Landon answered the call. A man's voice came through, "Mr. White, this is the police. Are you Felicity's husband?"

Landon frowned, displeasure flashing in his eyes. "No, I'm not."

"We were transporting Felicity back to the station when she suddenly jumped from the vehicle and was picked up by another car. We need you to come to the station to assist with our investigation."

Felicity had escaped? Landon immediately sensed trouble. That vindictive woman could be planning something terrible.

"I'll be right there," Landon said before hanging up. He announced grimly, "Bad news. Felicity has escaped."

"How could they let that happen?" someone asked.

"I need to go to the police station," Landon said. After taking a few steps, he turned back to Ethan. "Ethan, Felicity is unstable. I'm worried she might try to harm Ashley. You should assign bodyguards to protect her until Felicity is found."

Hearing about Felicity's escape, Ethan felt uneasy as well.

He nodded solemnly. "Don't worry. I won't let anyone hurt Ashley."

Landon nodded and left.

Noting the late hour, Ethan said, "It's getting late. I should take Ashley back to the Yates Mansion."

"Be careful on your way," someone cautioned.

"We will."

Ethan took Ashley's hand and they got into the car. As they drove along smoothly, Ashley studied Ethan while he concentrated on driving. Noticing her gaze from the corner of his eye, Ethan smiled. "Why are you staring at me, darling? Miss me after two days apart?"

Ashley blushed. "I was reading at the Retreats, but I thought about you whenever I had a free moment."

"Honey, I feel guilty that I wasn't by your side when all this happened today," Ashley said.

Ethan chuckled. "What's there to feel guilty about? These little schemes are no match for me. Don't you have confidence in my abilities to handle them?"

"Of course I know you're the most capable," Ashley replied.

She smiled and leaned over to kiss his cheek. "Even though the reception had unexpected issues, you handled everything perfectly. You were amazing."

Ethan raised an eyebrow. "Naturally."

While waiting at a traffic light, Ashley looked at Ethan intently and asked carefully, "Honey, you and James are going for DNA testing tomorrow. He doesn't trust you, which must be hurtful, isn't it?"

Ethan's hands tightened on the steering wheel momentarily before relaxing.

"Yes, it is uncomfortable," he admitted.

Ashley wrapped her arms around his waist and nestled against him, offering wordless comfort.

Ethan stroked her hair. "But I agreed to the DNA test to eliminate his doubts. Don't worry."

Ashley opened her mouth to say something but hesitated. Only after Ethan had started driving again did she finally respond with a soft affirmative.

Soon they arrived at the Yates Mansion.

"When did your flight land? Have you had dinner?" Ethan asked.

Ashley gave a nervous laugh. "I was in such a rush to catch the flight that I missed dinner."

"Are you hungry again? I can make something for you," she offered, turning toward the kitchen.

However, Ethan wrapped his arm around Ashley's shoulders and guided her to the sofa, making her sit down.

"You're pregnant," he said. "No more cooking for you. You must be starving. I'll make something."

Ashley looked down at her slightly swollen belly, her eyes filled with joy and tenderness.

"But won't your cooking give me stomach problems?" she teased.

Ethan gave her a sidelong glance. "Don't underestimate me. While you were away, I've been studying recipes. I might not manage complicated dishes, but I can definitely make pasta."

Ashley covered her mouth to hide her giggle, then lay back on the sofa. "Well then, I'm looking forward to your delicious pasta."

"Just wait," Ethan said.

Half an hour later, two bowls of pasta were served.

The pasta smelled wonderful and looked appetizing. Ashley was shocked. "Honey, you're amazing! You've learned to make pasta, and it looks delicious!"

Ethan smiled. "Try it."

Ashley nodded. Tasting pasta made by Ethan for the first time was not only delicious but heartwarming.

"So, how is my pasta?" Ethan asked expectantly.

"It's delicious," Ashley nodded.

As the couple enjoyed their intimate dinner, the online world was undergoing another massive shift. A short video recorded by Ivy was rapidly becoming headline news.
