Chapter 173 The Malicious Mother-in-Law
Ivy wanted to lie and twist the truth to make Ethan misunderstand, but when she saw his intense stare, she chickened out.
Feeling rebellious, Ivy blurted, "It was Sienna. She came over in the middle of the night and took her away."
Ethan relaxed. "Sienna?"
Ivy nodded. "Yeah."
Ethan felt relieved. He trusted Sienna to take care of her.
Ivy glanced at the door. "Where's Felicity? Did she go back to the Zito family after bringing you a snack last night?"
Ethan shot her a cold look and sneered, "Mom, stay out of my personal life. I don't care what you and Felicity are up to, but it won't work."
"What are you talking about? I don't get it." Ivy played dumb. "Where's Felicity? Where is she?"
"She broke into my office last night and got taken to the police station."
Ethan then headed to the kitchen.
Ivy stomped her foot in frustration. "Damn it, what does Ashley have that makes Ethan so obsessed? He's so stubborn. What now..."
Ivy's hatred for Ashley grew, wishing she would just disappear.
Ivy was both angry and anxious, unsure how to make Ethan fall for Felicity.
Ethan had been working all night. After breakfast, he went upstairs to rest.
Seeing Ashley wasn't home, he felt a pang of disappointment.
But he was exhausted. Rubbing his temples, he grabbed some clean clothes and headed to the bathroom. Opening the door, he saw a mess.
His brows furrowed.
The floor was wet, and there were wheelchair marks. Ethan had a bad feeling and went to find someone.
He saw a maid and grabbed her. "What's up with the bathroom in my room?"
The new maid, flustered by Ethan's presence, stammered, "Mr. Yates, I... I..."
Ethan, annoyed, let her go and went downstairs. In the hall, he saw Thomas.
"Thomas."
"Mr. Yates, you're back."
Thomas had something to say.
"What's up with the master bathroom? What happened last night?"
"Mr. Yates, last night, Mrs. Ashley Yates, she..."
Thomas started, but Ivy interrupted, "Ethan, Ashley's friend helped her freshen up before taking her away. The maids were off, so it hasn't been cleaned yet."
Thomas wanted to speak, but Ivy's warning look silenced him.
"Really?"
Ethan was skeptical.
Ivy forced a laugh. "Of course, why would I lie?"
Ethan nodded. "Have someone clean it up."
He turned and left.
Thomas watched him go, worried.
Ivy glared at Thomas. "Keep your mouth shut about last night, or forget about any retirement benefits."
Thomas sighed. "Yes..."
Ivy had the maids clean the master bedroom, but Ethan, too tired to wait, went to the guest room. He needed sleep after working all night.
Ethan was exhausted, but without Ashley beside him, he couldn't sleep.
Eventually, fatigue won, and he fell asleep.
At Maple Grove Estate, Alex was walking Buddy, who saw the light in Ashley's room. Excited, Buddy ran to her door, barking.
"Buddy, stop barking at her door."
Sienna, about to go grocery shopping, opened the door and saw the husky.
"You scared me! Whose dog is this?"
"Ms. Nelson, sorry, it's mine..."
Alex glanced inside. "Is Ashley back?"
