Chapter 518 They Confirm Their Relationship
The Next Day
Ethan and Ashley woke up almost simultaneously. Ethan gave her a sly smile. "Good morning, Pearl."
Ashley's cheeks flushed. "Good morning."
As memories of last night flooded back, Ashley couldn't help but blush. Ethan gazed at her intensely, making her feel self-conscious. She tried changing the subject, "Ethan, where are Andy and Nate?"
Ethan chuckled. "After you fell asleep last night, I went looking for them and found them passed out in the living room. I carried them to the guest room. Don't worry, they're fine."
His explanation only made Ashley more embarrassed.
"They mentioned wanting to surprise you yesterday..." Ethan flashed a mischievous grin. "Turns out they're quite thoughtful when it comes to you."
Ashley blushed again. "What are you implying?"
Thinking back, she realized she had only acted so boldly last night after drinking the fruit wine Nate had given her. Those kids were truly spoiled—setting up their mother just to get her together with their "daddy."
Ethan wrapped his arms around Ashley, his voice deep and elegant. "Pearl, we were together again last night—with consent this time. Shouldn't we make our relationship official now?"
"Ethan, doesn't it bother you that I've been married before and have children?"
"Don't be ridiculous. If that bothered me, would I be pursuing you like this?" Ethan looked deeply into her eyes. "Stop changing the subject. Give me a straight answer."
Ashley's face turned crimson as she gazed into Ethan's star-like eyes, instantly losing herself in his tenderness.
Her rational mind warned her that she might not truly be Ashley and shouldn't get too close to Ethan, or she'd end up as someone else's mistress.
Yet despite knowing better, she couldn't help falling for him.
Seeing her hesitation, Ethan felt his heart ache.
He understood her concerns, and he was torn himself. But faced with the choice between moral concerns and genuine feelings, he chose the latter.
Ethan looked at her nervously. "Pearl, you're not planning to avoid taking responsibility for me, are you?"
"Of course not."
It was unusual for the woman to be the one "taking responsibility," but his vulnerable expression made her feel like the villain.
Ashley softened. For now, she would accept things as they were.
Ethan asked seriously, "So what am I to you?"
After a moment's thought, Ashley replied shyly, "You're... my boyfriend."
Ethan smiled wickedly. "So you're admitting I'm your boyfriend?"
Ashley nodded. "Yes."
With that simple affirmation, their relationship was official.
Overjoyed at her response, Ethan embraced her, kissing her passionately yet tenderly. "Pearl, I'm so happy. You're finally mine!"
Ashley nestled shyly in his arms, speechless.
She felt like she was living in a dream, like Cinderella who had somehow won the prince's heart.
Glancing at the wall clock, Ashley said, "Ethan, it's already six-thirty. I need to get up and make breakfast, and then take the kids to preschool."
"I'll go with you to drop them off."
"Alright."
As she got up, she noticed him still watching her. "Don't stare at me like that. Turn around."
"Why be shy now? Last night I saw everything, kissed everything..."
Ashley blushed furiously, quickly gathered her clothes, and practically fled the room.
Watching her leave, Ethan's eyes filled with adoration.
He closed his eyes, pretending to doze. Since sharing a bed with Ashley, he hadn't needed sleeping pills and had enjoyed several nights of sound sleep. His spirits had improved considerably.
After preparing breakfast for a while, Ashley was joined by Ethan, who had finished washing up.
"Need any help, Pearl?"
"I'm almost done. Could you wake the children?"
"Of course."
Ethan went to the children's room. The two little ones had gone to bed late and were still sleeping in.
"Andy, Nate, time to get up," Ethan called.
Nate stirred but continued sleeping.
Andy yawned and opened his eyes. "Daddy, didn't we fall asleep in the living room? How did we end up here?"
Ethan gently tapped Andy's nose. "You little troublemakers and your scheming last night—setting up your mommy like that."
Andy's little face reddened. "It wasn't scheming! We just gave Mommy to Daddy. Now you're officially our daddy!"
"You cheeky little thing, so eager to find yourself a new father." Ethan's tone was tender and indulgent, though he added with some seriousness, "Both of you, don't try anything like this again. What if your plan had backfired and sent your mommy to someone else?"
Andy giggled behind his hand. "Is Daddy already getting jealous?"
Ethan's handsome face colored slightly. Changing the subject, he said, "Come on, get up and wash. Your mommy has breakfast ready, and we'll take you to preschool together."
Andy exclaimed, "Wow, awesome!"
Then he quickly added, "Daddy, preschool's closed again tomorrow. Can you and Mommy take us out somewhere fun?"
