Chapter 174 Shipping the Wrong Couple

Sienna blurted out, "You know Ashley?"

She checked out Alex, noticing his sharp outfit and good looks. An idea popped into her head about setting him up with Ashley.

Buddy, the dog, was pacing at the door, wanting to go in but blocked by Sienna. He gave his owner those big, pleading eyes.

Alex smiled and said, "Yeah, I'm Alex Hill, Ashley's neighbor. We met briefly in the yard last time, but everyone was in a rush."

"Really?"

Sienna tried to remember but couldn't.

"What's your last name?"

"Nelson."

"Ms. Nelson, can I visit Ashley? She fell off a cliff and got hurt. I wanted to visit her in the hospital but thought it might be awkward."

"So you saved Ashley!"

Sienna's suspicion melted into gratitude. "Thank you so much."

"Don't just stand there, come in."

She stepped aside.

"Thanks."

Alex walked in with Buddy, who wagged his tail and headed straight for Ashley's room.

"Buddy, come back!"

Alex called, but Buddy just barked and kept going.

Alex felt awkward about entering a woman's bedroom, so he stayed put.

"Mr. Hill, have a seat. I'll make some tea."

"Thanks."

Alex sat down, but his mind was on Ashley. Sienna noticed and laughed. "Mr. Hill, you keep looking at Ashley's room. Do you like her?"

Alex's jaw dropped, and he blushed, looking down.

"Mr. Hill, here's your tea."

"Thanks."

Looking at the teacup, Alex's face turned serious. "Did I give it away that much?"

"Yeah, it's pretty clear."

"It's a shame I met Ms. Wilson too late."

When they first met, she was single. Then, she quickly married Ethan. Alex had just started to like her, only to face heartbreak.

"It's not too late."

Sienna said seriously, "If you don't mind that Ashley was married before and you really like her, go for it."

Alex looked stunned. "Are you saying she's got a divorce?"

Sienna replied, "Maybe. Do you know how much she's been through? I thought she'd get better care at the Yates mansion after her injury, but..."

Sienna's anger grew. "Ethan's a jerk and doesn't deserve Ashley. If you really like her, go for it. You've got my back!"

Alex was taken aback by Sienna's bluntness but his mind wandered.

"You said Ashley's not doing well? She has broken bones and needs proper care. How could she be struggling?"

Sienna huffed, "Let me show you."

They headed to the master bedroom on the second floor.

Inside, Buddy lay beside Ashley's bed, wagging his tail and trying to nuzzle her. Seeing her casts, his eyes showed pity.

Buddy rested his chin on Ashley's lap, making pitiful sounds.

Ashley smiled at the dog. "Buddy, long time no see."

Buddy wagged his tail happily.

"How have you been? Did you miss me?"

Buddy jumped around carefully, avoiding her injuries.

"I wish I could hug you, but I can't move right now."

Buddy snuggled into her lap, making Ashley laugh for the first time since her injury.

There was a knock, and Sienna's voice came through.

"Ashley, Mr. Hill is here to see you."

"Come in."

Alex entered, seeing Ashley in casts, and felt a deep ache in his heart.

"Ashley, it's been over a month. Haven't you gotten any better?"

"Better?"

Sienna scoffed, "The doctor said if this continues, she might be bedridden for life."

Sienna's words were aimed at Ethan, but they stung Ashley.

"Is Ethan treating you badly?"

"No."

Ashley answered firmly, "It's my problem, not his. Alex, have a seat. Let's talk."

"Okay."

Alex sat down, facing Ashley. Sienna watched, thinking they looked perfect together.

She chuckled to herself and secretly snapped a photo with her phone...
