Chapter 380 You Guys Go on a Date
Ashley paused, then said, "About the paper, I'll have it completed before dawn."
"Wonderful!" Pauline replied. "Ashley, I'm really looking forward to your brilliant presentation!"
Ashley had just hung up when Ethan wheeled Katherine out. As she turned around, she noticed the joy on both their faces.
Ashley approached Ethan and asked, "Honey, what did the doctor say?"
"The doctor wants Grandma to come back for monthly check-ups and take her medication regularly. There's a good chance her condition will improve," Ethan explained, holding a thick stack of prescriptions. "Darling, could you watch Grandma while I go get her medications?"
Ashley nodded. "Of course."
After Ethan left, Katherine turned to Ashley. "Do you really think it was a misdiagnosis? We visited several hospitals, and they all confirmed late-stage cancer. How could it suddenly change to early-stage?"
Though surprised by the good news, Katherine wasn't completely shocked. After a moment's thought, she asked, "That Panacea William gave me last time—did it significantly help my condition?"
A flicker of something passed through Ashley's eyes. "Katherine, the Panacea only boosts immunity. Don't overthink it. Just rest and follow the doctor's instructions."
Katherine considered this briefly. "I must be overthinking. Let's go home."
Ashley nodded, and Ethan returned with the medications. The four of them headed back to the Yates Mansion together.
Ethan had postponed all his work to spend the day with family. While Ashley and Katherine watched TV in the living room, Ethan played chess with Michael, though he was clearly distracted, frequently glancing worriedly at Katherine and nearly losing the game.
"Ethan, has your chess game gotten worse?" Michael asked.
Following Ethan's gaze to Katherine, Michael noticed his concerned expression. "You're worried about Katherine, aren't you?"
Ethan nodded glumly.
"Don't worry—the doctor said there's a good chance of recovery."
Ethan nodded again. "Grandpa, please don't keep things from me anymore. When you do that, it's like you don't consider me family."
Michael chuckled. "How could we not consider you family? You're my grandson, and I'm proud of you. I just didn't want you to worry needlessly."
After a pause, he asked, "You're taking a rare day off to stay home with us?"
"I want to spend time with you all," Ethan replied, afraid that one day he might wake up to find his beloved grandparents gone.
"With our age gap, we have quite the generation gap. You don't need to keep us company," Michael said. "You and your wife should do whatever you'd like."
Michael understood Ethan's concerns but appreciated his respect for his elders.
Ethan looked embarrassed. "But I don't have anywhere else to go."
"Nonsense," Michael countered. "Young couples go to movies and shopping. Why don't you take Ashley to see a film?"
Ashley and Katherine had been listening to this exchange.
"Ethan, he's right," Katherine chimed in. "Michael can keep me company. You and Ashley should go on a date."
Ashley blushed. "Katherine, Ethan and I have been married for years. We don't need to date. Today, we want to stay home with you."
Michael and Katherine exchanged glances. "Well, if you won't go on a date, then Katherine and I will go out ourselves. Don't follow us," Michael said jokingly as he began wheeling Katherine toward the door.
"We're leaving—don't follow us!" he called back.
Ashley and Ethan smiled at each other, understanding that Michael and Katherine were giving them time alone.
Ashley held Ethan's arm affectionately. "Honey, we've been married over a year, and you've been so busy with work. We've never actually gone on a proper date."
"Really?" Ethan thought back and realized they truly had never dated.
"Yes, really."
Ethan said earnestly, "Today I'm all yours. Whatever you want to do, I'll come with you."
Ashley's eyes lit up, and her heart swelled with happiness.
She hugged him enthusiastically and kissed his cheek. "Let's go see a movie, then have Mexican food, and afterward visit the night art market. How does that sound?"
"Let's go, Ashley!"
Hand in hand, Ethan and Ashley left the house, looking very much in love.
On the drive to the cinema, Ashley checked the movie schedules on her phone. "Honey, this horror film looks good. Shall we watch this one?"
