Chapter 279 Exposing Ivy's Crimes
Ivy lunged at Ashley, her knife aimed right for the heart. But she totally misjudged her own state. She got bit on the leg last night and was shaking like a leaf, making it hard to even move, let alone attack.
As soon as Ivy made her move, Ashley just sidestepped, dodging the whole thing.
Ashley knew she had the upper hand and didn't want to stick around for a fight. She turned and bolted.
Ivy screamed, "Ashley, you think you can just run away?"
Ashley paused and threw a cold smile over her shoulder, "Ivy, I'm gonna blow your cover. Get ready for jail time!"
"Stop!" Ivy hobbled after her.
Ashley didn't even look back, just dashed down the stairs.
When Ivy finally caught up, she tripped and tumbled down the stairs, hitting herself all over and looking like a total mess.
By the time she got to the elevator, Ashley was long gone.
"Damn it! She got away!" Ivy stomped her foot in frustration and quickly dialed a number, "Dad, I'm screwed. Ashley knows Ethan isn't my kid and that Doris is his real mom. She's gonna expose me. What do I do?"
"Idiot, how could you let her find out!" Lucas's voice was ice-cold on the other end. "We have to silence her!"
Ashley exited the elevator and sprinted to the garage to get her car. On the way, she called Ethan.
Ethan had a meeting to sign a contract with Josselin at ten in the morning.
But Ashley had been bugging him to check out the documents Doris sent, so as soon as he got to the office, he reviewed them.
Even though there was no solid proof, the whole thing was sketchy enough that Ethan decided to dig deeper before signing anything.
George knocked and walked into the office, "Ethan, the meeting's about to start. Time to sign the contract with Josselin."
Ethan was about to respond when his phone rang. Seeing it was Ashley, his expression softened, "Hold on, let me take this."
"Hey, babe."
"Babe, where are you?" Ashley's voice was urgent, like she was running.
Ethan frowned, "I'm at the office. What's up? Why do you sound out of breath?"
Ashley said, "Babe, I need to talk to you face-to-face. Drop whatever you're doing. I'll be at Yates Group in ten minutes. I'm on my way. Wait for me!"
Ethan got a bad feeling. His brows knitted together, and he felt a wave of anxiety, "Okay, drive safe!"
After hanging up, Ethan's face was still all scrunched up.
"What's up?" George asked.
Ethan's brows were knitted tight, "Something's up with Ashley."
George's eyes flickered, "It can't be that bad. Josselin's already in the conference room. Let's go."
Ethan's eyes narrowed, and he said, "Tell Josselin I got something urgent and can't sign the contract today. We'll talk about it later."
With that, Ethan grabbed his stuff and headed out.
"Ethan, signing the contract won't take long. If you need to see Ashley, our team can handle it," George chased after him. Everything was going smoothly, and now Ethan was bailing at the last second. Josselin wouldn't be happy.
Ethan stopped, his gaze intense, "George, put the signing on hold. We'll decide after I get back."
Watching Ethan walk away, George clenched his fists, a shadow crossing his face.
They were so close. Why was Ethan backing out now?
George racked his brain, feeling uneasy. Did Ethan find out something?
After leaving the office, Ethan called Diannel, "Diannel, I need you to head to Maridia and dig into Josselin's activities there. Keep it low-key and fast!"
"Got it, Mr. Yates!" Diannel replied.
After giving his orders, Ethan went to the entrance of Yates Group. Checking the time, he saw it was meeting time, but Ashley was still a no-show. He didn't know why, but he felt a wave of anxiety.
Ashley was speeding, desperate to tell Ethan the big news. But at the last traffic light, she floored it.
Out of nowhere, a huge truck ran a red light and came barreling towards her!
Ashley, in a panic, didn't notice at first. When she saw the truck, she gasped and yanked the steering wheel. The car spun, tires screeching!
The car spun several times!
Suddenly, with a loud bang, the car flipped over!
Ashley felt dizzy and out of it. Ignoring the blood, she struggled to crawl out of the window.
At that moment!
The big truck suddenly veered off course and charged at Ashley!
With blood dripping from her forehead, Ashley saw the truck coming. Despite being covered in blood, she started running like crazy. Suddenly, with a loud boom, the car exploded!
